Campfire Audio Equinox Custom IEM - Beta

Haha. I def have not heard those. They look pretty interesting though.

Did a bunch more A/Bing my entire collection against the Equinox demo unit today. Amazing Bass and I can really dig it listening to electronic but I can't get past it for rock music. I may ask to demo the Solstice but I find my almost a bit lean so it might not be for me. I reckon I might fall into the Solaris camp for CFA products. Though looking at the 2020 graphed against the Solstice it's pretty close.

If there was a custom Solaris, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.

I would still recommend trying the Solstice before ruling it out entirely.

Yes, as is normal for any custom, the low end is a little more present and warm because of the perfect seal.

The treble on the Solstice is the main difference with the 2020 - it is a little more forward and present.

Continuing the rock the Equinox as one of my main dailies.

I wish this was still talked about more!

It's so engaging and full of unapologetic fun.

I'd love to hear more impressions of the illustrious equinox.

When paired with a fast/detailed gear like Chord, Equinox becomes one the top 3 most listened to iems in my collection. I urge folks to try Equinox with Hugo 2 (red XFD, white filter), the amplifier in Hugo 2 is extremely fast and controlled, the Chord DAC slams with precision. Equinox responds so well with the Hugo 2, it sounds and feels like a two channel bookshelf system with a subwoofer. I say bookshelf system as the subwoofer has more presence in the mix. The XFD processing with Hugo 2 contributes to the speaker like imaging. The layering and detail out of Equinox is a level I haven't heard before, I didn't think Equinox was capable of this.

It's unbelievable how well this competes with the flagship iems, it hits my tastes perfectly. This is a pairing I want to listen to for hours and never end.

I'm fine with my universal Supermoon-- if I take the plunge on a custom this will probably be the one.

100% - echos "why" in my love for the Equinox.

We’re here to influence bad (good) decisions 🙈

FYI CFA will have all CIEMs on discount to 1100 Dec 21st (it's a Solstice). May want to wait until then :)

I may need to buy a Mojo 2 at some point for my Equinox for my 'on the go' listening, Chord pairs so well.

Same here. I'm also looking to try my Mojo 2 with this pairing when I get mine in.

And yes, those sales happen every few months. I would recommend folks wait and save some coin if they can.

I am currently looking for a new equinox driver. I consider options: mojo2; shanling h7; Fiio Q7; DX320. This is all within my current budget. I just got rid of Lotoo paw 6000. Having it and btr7 I preferred btr7 90% of the time. I would appreciate any advice.

If I may ask, are you more into DAC/amp devices, or DAPs?

More like a DAP, but my use cases are more suited to a DAC. The main goal is maximum sound quality. Right now I'm looking at two aftermarket options for the N8 or new DX 320.
As an n8 user im 50/50 recommending it to you. Sound wise it is very good albiet a fair bit colored. When i demo'd both it and the lpgt a while back, when i still sported a wm1a, n8 caught me by surprise because it sounded very dynamic yet very foreign it took me a while to get accustomed. Lpgt on the other hand was very refined and very similar to sony house sound (specifically the 1a) it was very flat with little to no coloration. Stability is where the n8 lacks. It is not uncommon for the device to crash and reboot browsing its files (especially with folders that has a lot of subfolders). Though i have found a way to subvert this from occuring, another shortcoming is when i toggle bluetooth on and off (specifically when i use the device as a bt receiver). Turning the bluetooth off would cause it to crash and reboot.

Despite lpgt having the much more familiar sound profile, better customizability, better form factor, ergonomics, pocketability, os, and stability. I still chose n8 over it because n8 proved to be a more unique and a much more complete device that can handle both iems and headphones (easy and hard to drive alike).

If you can or think the issues ive listed above as minor inconveniences then the n8 should be a great device for you!

I understand, thanks! If you were after a desktop DAC or a portable DAC/amp, then I could perhaps suggest something from our offer. But if you already have your eyes on two specific products, asking about them specifically sounds like a plan. Good luck :)
