Buying Stax SR-009 From PriceJapan.com??

Yes, it appears pricejapan.com sleeps with the fishes.

Any suggestions for U.S. dealers for L700/353X? Elusivedisc is a dealer, yes?

I can't even find the U.S. Stax importer webpage, anyone have it?

Thanks for any info.

TSAV is also a dealer for STAX Products

I just got a 353x and L700 from headamp.com. Excellent service. They say now that the U.S. importer is gone they are buying directly from an office in China (Stax is still in Japan but is owned by a Chinese company).

Yes and pretty much run by the original Japanese president of STAX. Distribution outside of Japan is handled directly by the Chinese representatives. The product ships to us US dealers from a Texas warehouse ....it’s quite convenient. Much better service and stock availability than before.

With all recent development, is there someone either in the US or Japan can help(with fees of course) to get an out of warranty 009 repaired (purchased from pricejapan) ?

I tried to send PriceJapan a message inquiring about their offerings a while ago, email was bounced back by a daemon. Coupled with the other evidence for it, I guess we have the best explanation. RIP.

An alternative site people can try for JP-imported STAX is smartimports.net; haven't purchased from them (yet) but have interacted with the owner about a product. He replies fast and is very helpful.

Just wondering, where did you get this info or is it just speculation?

I received an email from STAX letting me know and it was as a result of me trying to help a customer get a paid order with PriceJapan. In that email I was also told that when they were open as a business they were NOT an authorized STAX dealer and that STAX will not service any STAX product sold by them.

I was more wondering about his death, couldn't find any other info about it on the web.
Things seemed to have gone bad for PJ since 2016 and there were words that the owner had a serious accident.

It's too bad. I didn't know the guy personally but I spent a lot of money with them over the past decade and he was always forthcoming in my interactions with him so I believe the rumors to be true.
He just seemed like a guy trying to make an honest buck as a middle man, sad that that is how it ended for him.

Life isn’t always nice. It’s unfortunate but some things he was doing seemed a little unscrupulous after reading the email information from STAX.

Stax is not an unbiased source about these things. And given their FU attitude towards even paid service for people who did not get there headphones through a reseller I don't think they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
I'm sorry but I have never appreciated their attitude toward the American market. The price premiums we pay over Japan are ridiculous when we don't have VAT.
I really hope Dan has his stats tuning and reliability down because I don't feel like feeding Stax anymore if I don't have to..
