Typical Korean company (Samsung's next-of-kin), releasing new product every 16 seconds.
Don't get me wrong, I'm an Asian too

That's what makes it so interesting. Plus I don't really like the AK240 aesthetically... this looks a lil better. As far as DSD, for me that doesn't matter at all, right now anyway.

The AK120-V2 pricing doesn't seem to be much less than the current AK240 street price and is more than the current AK120.
From the hardware specs I just don't understand why didn't implement native DSD - from what we've been shown its very very similar to the AK240 hardware wise. Seems more convoluted to go DSD->PCM given that.

I suspect it's a hedge for now and they can maintain the pricing structure with the AK240 intact. When competition comes out with more better and cheaper hardware with native DSD like CalyxM or the Light Harmonic Geek next year - they can discontinue the AK240 and provide a firmware upgrade to instantly upgrade the new AK's to native DSD, drop price and keep competitive.

Just my $0.02

price difference is around $700, that's quite a lot for me. Unfortunately over my budget, im relegated to the 100 II now :frowning2:

I think the lack of XMOS chip on the AK120II and AK100II is the true reason why it can't do native DSD. I doubt a firmware update could allow for native DSD unless the XMOS chip is secretly there but just disabled.

If you're going to spend 999? Why not get the calyx m instead? Full sd +microsd + 64gb on board storage.

edit: why does the headphone out on the ak120II have a 2Ω impedance? why not just go for the <1?? 2Ω does had a impact on the sound of high sensitivity IEM's like the UM Miracle right?
