I am giving some thought to purchasing a A&K 100II. I have some hearing loss but find using a graphic equaliser I can boost those frequencies affected.  My question is, is the equaliser in the AK 100II OK, will it boost frequencies around 3k to 6k by around 10db. Thanks for any info.

I really meant to try the single ended output today. Was just going to have quick listen to the balanced output but then 8 hours flew by.

I'm not a big fan of Phil Collins, but his album "But seriously" in 24/192 is friggin amazing on the AK. INCREDIBLE dynamics and details!

The EQ covers that range but maxes out at +/- 5dB.

Thanks for your reply  +5dB would help  not really enough, but perhaps the best I can hope for from this kind of device.

It just occurred to me that you could set the target freq at +5 and everything else at -5.  That wouldn't leave much room for fine tuning but it will give the desired 10dB difference.

I see what you mean and up the overall volume by 5dB interesting will try it on my computer system using the EQ in JRiver. Thanks for the idea.

Balanced is much better, even better paired with a balanced amp!

I have sold my dx90 and now I hesitate a lot between the AK100ii or the Ak 120ii ?
I read that the sound was pretty close and similar.
And the price is not close...

I've not heard the 120ii but I recently bought the 120 Titan and listened to it solidly for a week I enjoyed it very much then I listened to my 100 ii and it is a lot better, cleaner,clearer better separation and the bass hits lower and harder,I think the Titan works better with an amp and has incredible storage and build,the 100 ii has a better ui and,sounds better ,I paid less for both than what the 120 ii comes in at,so very happy.

From what I haver read, the consensus seems to be that there is a significant difference between the SQ of 100ii vs 120ii.  And little, if any, difference between 120ii and 240.    The power and storage of the 120ii (over the 100ii) made me choose the 120ii.

We all read and find different statements. I saw where one person compared all 3 of the current players and didn't find enough difference to warrant get the 120II and the 240 so he got the 100II. 
 
Now to do a real comparison, would be the 901 to them since I have read of a preference in SQ of the 901 over even the 240 and at about 1000 less, depending upon when you bought the 240. With regards to UI, well it would seem the AK has it but I don't listen to the UI. :^) But it sure comes in handy.

All I am going to say is the the 901 is, by far, the ugliest, clunkiest, nasty looking thing ever. my wife almost made me take it out back and shoot it.

UI, wifi and Bluetooth killed a lot of Daps and justified several hundred dollars in favor of the AKs for me.

Good morning all, just got my AK120 ii.  I moved from the Cowon I9+, major improvement over it.  Driving Miles Davis Tributes and Grado PS500's.  I would buy this guy again in a second, well worth the money.
