Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

Those that ordered already, do you have aptx adaptive devices? I am on the fence since I own Samsungs. I would hate to marry PX8 to just limited devices with aptx adaptive.
I'm actually curious about this as well. I have Apple devices and AVForums really made it seem like the PX8 is not much better sounding than the PX7 S2 on iDevices. I own the PX7 S2 and I think it sounds great on Apple devices. Is anyone using the PX8 with Apple devices?

Yo. I’m your man. It’s a big difference to me. They are tuned very differently than the Px7 S2. It’s a tighter, punchier, more refined sound.

Decided to go for a little downtown walk in my city at 10:30 on a Friday night so full loud streets…ANC without music drowns out 75% of all noises period and with music of any volume on its completely silent wind and all. They rock

a Review that made some points I hadn’t seen.
This review has some inaccuracies, for example "USB-C to USB-C for charging". That cable is not just for charging, it enables the use of USB for digital lossless audio. A quick glance at the manual is all that's needed to learn this. Many headphones don't allow this, but it is a significant feature. For some, it will make up for a lack of Bluetooth codec support.

I'm also very curious, hopefully someone with an Aptx HD source can chime in. Again this is something the Avforums review should have gone into depth on, but they mention it obscurely and in passing. I'm finding these reviews less and less useful these days.

I suspect that review is misleading here, was AAC "tested" on an iDevice or Android? It's true that AAC is bad on Android because of the encoding, which is hard to do well on-the-fly. But if the PX8 are given a good AAC source, e.g. from an iDevice, it should be fine, AAC decoding is a solved problem.
You can easily test it yourself. Use the USB cable to the PX8 as a lossless digital audio cable and compare to AAC. The reviewer didn't do that because he didn't check the manual and thinks it's just a charging cable (as do techradar).

I would agree, but having owned the B&W PI7 from last year, those sounded poor on Apple AAC, and much better on aptx-HD. It was a hardware issue, the innards of the PI7 use a different circuit for each signal and for some reason B&W gave huge priority to aptx hd. It's known issue and well recorded on the head-fi thread here.

I'm concerned it'll be the same deal with the PX8. Even if not as dramatic, if it's present even moderately it will be dissapointing.

Yes most mainstream published reviews are not really worth reading. The authors are hired based on having a way with words, rather than having technical know how or passion for the subject. This of course does not apply to specialist sites such as soundguys and rtings (both excellent).

This is why head-fi is such as useful site. I'm looking forward to the reviews from real users.

In answer to your question, I have the FiiO M11 with which I can perfectly test the PX8.Here in Spain we will start receiving them, according to my distributor, from October 10.
