Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Finally, about that IEM that will supercede the Xelentos... I really don't think the T9ie is it. And even if you like its very different tuning, according to the Beyer rep at CanJam, there are absolutely no plans to bring the T9ie to Beyerdynamic as a Xelento mk ii. The T9ie is apparently just an A&K solo project. Even if Beyerdynamic did drop the A&K branding and the price by $1000, personally I'd rather keep my Xelentos. I didn't hear any other IEM on sale at CanJam that I felt I'd rather be listening to than the Xelento. Except maybe one... But unfortunately it's not yet for sale. I got a chance to listen to a prototype that's finished (tuning is locked in) but not yet announced. I can't tell you anything more about it at this stage. It is not Xelento 2, but I guarantee Xelento fans are going to like this. You'll see why later :) I promise I will link details, first impressions, and measurements for it on this thread as soon as I'm allowed to...

Any updates on this?

Is Xelento a good iem to go for at this moment or I should wait for the so-called Xelento 2? I'm looking for a DD iem to add to my collection! Haven't got to audition the Xelento yet :( any thought on sound signature, high, mid, treb, clarity and so on?

As one who has purchased over a dozen different IEMS in the last 12 months from value based Chi-Fi up to Flagship western Brands, the Xelento has become and remains my favorite IEM of all of them. It's got great Bass punch without overwhelming the mids or treble, beautiful mids, where strings and vocals alike are just where they should be, and treble that provides sparkle without sibilance. That Beyer has accomplished this with a single DD is pretty impressive. I've been pretty vocal about how great I think the Tin P1s are for $150 or any price, and I maintain their goodness. The clarity, detail retrieval, separation, and resolution is I think unmatched BUT they lack the low end punch and they NEED power to really sound their best (for me they are now relegated to my desktop rig for that reason). I bought the Cupids because I was looking for all the detail and resolution of the P1 planar, with bass punch of the DD it comes with, but even the cupid cant match the the detail or resolution of the P1. I've been A / B / C comparing these IEMs for weeks and I'm completely sold on the Xelentos. They are easy to drive, have great low, mid and top ends and too my ear are the best all rounder I've got. I use them daily, travel with them and overall cannot recommend them enough. I will say, a few weeks ago I had the privilege of auditioning the new Noble M3s. They were spectacular but I only compared them again the cupids. I'm going back to the shop to pit them against the Xelento and am either going to walk out with them or dismiss them. As for the Xelentos, everything I've had has been for sale as I continued to rotate earphones in my possession in my search to find the "right" IEM for me. With Xelento I'm sure I've got it. The M3 may knock it off but I doubt it.

Wow appreciate this! Nice impression! I feel convinced to give the Xelento a listen and may end up getting them by this weekend! Are there any noticeable differences in terms of sound quality between the Remote and the bluetooth version? I mean, the DDs are tuned in the same way in both versions right? I'm thinking about buying the Bluetooth one but a little concerned that the remote module could possibly take its toll on sound quality overall? any thought? Thanks!

Actually, there is absolutely no difference in the earbuds between the remote and wireless versions; they are an identical product with the only change coming in the 2nd wire. Both sets ship with a a standard 3.5mm MMCX wire with the wireless version coming with the BT receiver cable.
TBH, I wouldnt buy the wireless version. With BT receivers like the Shanling UP2 and Radstone ES100 offering BT Capability with higher resolution codecs (LDAC), extended battery life and greater functionality (USB DAC) for $70 to $100, I'd get the the Xelento Remote and pair it to one of these receivers & pocket $100 to $125. Actually that's exactly what I've done and couldn't be happier. Better SQ, Better Battery Life and Extended functionality.... when I go wireless, I added a a FiiO short 40cm MMCX cable and the set up is perfect.

Just a heads up, I just came this close to falling for a pair of copycat Xelentos from EarphoneDIY Labs (http://www.earphonediylabs.com/shop...arbuds-with-10mm-beyer-dynamic-tesla-drivers/) passing off as originals on eBay. Thanks to some mentions on this thread and others, I was able to get out of the transaction clean.

For those unaware of how to spot the difference between original and copycat, on the copycat the engraved serial number on the back of the shell reads "NO" (both Uppercase), whereas on the original it reads "No" (Uppercase and lowercase). Asking the seller for a close-up photo of the back is probably mandatory these days, given the circumstances.

Thanks again to this thread for the (in)valuable knowledge!

I've received a knock-off in the FS forum here. The seller had a pic of a non-knockoff product, but then shipped a knock-off to me. I don't know how the Xelento Remote normally sounds, but I can say that the knock-off sounds very good and the fit is excellent. I'm working with PayPal to resolve the issue. He said he had two copies of the IEM - best possible explanation is that he sent me the wrong one. We'll get it fixed or PayPal will fix it for us.

I would recommend the knockoff at $158. However, most people selling this would price it at much higher expecting that no one knew about the knock offs.

He had two units, put pictures on the classifieds forum of the original Xelentos and then sent you a knock-off? Sorry but that sounds very fishy...

The serial number inscription on the shell of the IEM. The fake ones have "NO." the real ones will have "No.".
