A closed version of the T1 would certainly make me very happy

I'm not so sure... considering the dt880 600 ohm seems to get much better reviews than the dt770 600 ohm I wonder if beyer's drivers are meant for closed headphones.

As long as it sounds exactly the same...

Well it wouldn't sound exactly the same, although it would share some similar sonic characteristics.

What is the point of closed phones if they sound exactly same as open? I mean yes obvious is isolation but I doubt it would isolate well enough. I thought there was specific tonality and texture close phones had and people appreciated that? some kind contrast, deep bass?

For me, it's a necessity to not disturb the wife and kids and visa versa. This is the only reason as I find open is the way to go.

I would be happy with a closed T1 that was as big an improvement over the DT770/600 as the current T1 is over the DT880/600.

The "Consumer"/2005 DT770/600 is a very good sounding headphone - many times better than the DT770 Pro 80.

I understand, that is exactly why I got denon and now trying dx-1000, not to disturb colleges but there is more to closed phones than isolation

The DT770'600 hasn't many followers, and after trying 2 sets on a meet I can understand why, the improvements over the normal version aren't exactly spectacular IMO.

If I ever get my hands on a T1, I'll try out NoXter's closed-back mod that works so wonderfully with the 880'2005 dead sure.

Better more impactful bass for one...but I still always prefer the sound of open cans to closed.

I guess it depends what type of music you listen, for me I have very eclectic taste starting with lady gaga and finished with keith jarrett but if I had to choose solely based on sound I would also choose open. I am new to audio but I am experienced photographer so I always compare sound tonal ranges with photographic and if could compare closed to open it would be like digital (closed) to open (film) photography. I know I am talking it to extremes but its fun

P.S. I have never heard T1 but I can clearly imagine how they sound.

I assume you mean the improvements over the 250 ohm consumer version. The DT770 Pro 80 is VERY different from the 2005 Consumer version. I think the 600 ohm versions are a little better.

The current DT770 has an identity problem. People think a DT770 is supposed to be a bass monster. But the 2005 Consumer version is more like a closed DT880 in sonic signature. It has much less bass than a DT990, for example.

But a closed version of the T1 that sounds just like the current T1 would be A-OK with me. I need closed for 2 of my 3 headphone rigs.
