Whether an amplifier sounds transparent or not is irrelevant as is tube distortion.

No, I clearly said the sound.  If you meant the technical specs, then we're on different pages.

@SunshineReagge

It is indeed my personal impression, my truth and my belief.  If You don't want to agree with  that, just don't.  If You think that STX is an end game for DT770 250  than I will not make You to think else.  Internet is a place where opinions can be shared.  So I did. 'I would be ssurely careful as I hhave Essence ' - mate that is great You have it, but it's not making any point.  I have it as well and what?  Honestly...

And of course  I I am not saying that  it makes perfect sense to match D200 with DT770, as the potential of DAC will be certainly wasted, but on the way to better headphones we always have these old ones.  That makes sense, right? I never got the D200 with intention to use with the cans I stated earlier, but to get some serious cans, just not everything at once.

Looks like this thread is brought to live again, good, than more opinions than better.

What isn't the Crack a "good match" for?

The Crack works best with headphones with higher impedance 150 ohms and over it will still work with lower impedance cans and I ran some ATH W1000X 60ish ohms quiet happily with it though the bass was starting to get slightly loose but still very enjoyable and very nice midrange with them.

  Hey guys. I was thinking of grabbing a magni and modi for these headphones. What do you guys think?

The answer will always be yes. For $200 you can't go wrong.

  That's what I was thinking. Also I was considering the Vali maybe it would be a little bit warmer. So it should compliment this Headphone.

Do you think the DT 770 Pro are bright? I find with proper amping they are actually on the warm side, without I can definitely see why one may see them as bright. The Vali is great regardless, it really comes down to your choice and budget.

I use either a Polaris or an Ember if I want a 'fruitier' tube sound. There is a certain amount of 'sound shaping' available on both and the bandwidth adjustment on the Polaris really works to tame the top end.
