They definitely are, honestly I'm quite a fan of the newer Tesla headphones. I do miss the DT 1990 at times as they fill in a different niche than my T1.2 and Amiron Home. A niche I don't think any of my headphones fill actually.

I want to try T1.2 now.

What pads do people prefer? I have stuck with pads that came with the headphone. I think they are balanced?

Most people from what I’ve seen prefer the analytical(bottom side of pads has 4 holes and less dense foam) while less prefer the balanced(many holes on each pad and denser foam). Analytical generally makes it sound more linear, more akin to say a DT 880. Balanced is more dynamic and punchy sounding.

Anyone pairing their DT 1990 pro with a tube amp?
I'm wondering about which tubes you prefer.

I'm using the analytical pads and am on a Woo Audio amp, the WA6SE. If you have tried different tubes I'd love to hear which tubes you prefer, I thank you kindly!

I have been using my 1990s with my Woo WA2 for some time now and continue to be thrilled. I also favor the analytical pads. Of course my tube preferences will be of no use to you. I previously owned a WA6, not SE, and I would enjoy checking out the DT1990/WA6SE combination.

I am very much enjoying this headphone with the Analytic pads. It makes it more interesting with component matching...:bird::bee:
