Hi all. I can't decide between the Schiit Asgard 3 (with 4490 DAC) or the Schiit Jotunheim (with same DAC) to power a DT 1990 PRO. Anyone owners might have some input to help out? Thanks.
I would say Asgard unless you need the balanced output for other headphones, since the DT 1990 doesn't run balanced.
Anyone here heard/own a Focal Elex? I want to know if you have a DT 1990 Pro if it's worth also getting an Elex, or if there's too much overlap in sound signature?
They definitely are, honestly I'm quite a fan of the newer Tesla headphones. I do miss the DT 1990 at times as they fill in a different niche than my T1.2 and Amiron Home. A niche I don't think any of my headphones fill actually.
What pads do people prefer? I have stuck with pads that came with the headphone. I think they are balanced?
Most people from what I’ve seen prefer the analytical(bottom side of pads has 4 holes and less dense foam) while less prefer the balanced(many holes on each pad and denser foam). Analytical generally makes it sound more linear, more akin to say a DT 880. Balanced is more dynamic and punchy sounding.
I want to know about DX220 (stock) or DX160 (stock) + DT1990 or DT1770 - how well do they match in terms of SQ/driveability/loudness and so on - i don't have an amp
I have been using my 1990s with my Woo WA2 for some time now and continue to be thrilled. I also favor the analytical pads. Of course my tube preferences will be of no use to you. I previously owned a WA6, not SE, and I would enjoy checking out the DT1990/WA6SE combination.
I am very much enjoying this headphone with the Analytic pads. It makes it more interesting with component matching...
