Curious if anyone tried these with the Earstudio es100, I thought it might be a good pairing since the dac sounds analoguish (as per reviews).

It's not bad. It drives them loud enough at least. Sounds a bit more detailed than the XM3.

Here is what I did, including HM5 pads:

1. ES 100
2. Branwavz HM5
3. Ek500s

Wow, that looks perfect! Could you give more details about it tho. Doesn't it sound thin, and how are the vocals?

Edit: And how is it with "busy" tracks?

It didn't sound as good as from my v30, but I wouldn't call it thin. Less detailed overall, but still good. I listen to hardcore and metalcore, so it's all busy. Did just fine. As a BT option, this will be the best BT sound you will find, but it's bulky as hell. If you are using for the office, I clipped the ES100 to my shirt. The mic works great and calls were amazingly clear.

I had an extensive listening session with the HD800S, HD820, DT1770Pro driven from a Chord Hugo 2 just for fun.
The Hugo 2 gives new life for the 1770, I didn't think there can be still significantly more after my AK SE100 for the DT. :)

Compared to the HDs, the 1770 is absolutely par with them. Actually I enjoyed it much more with it's rich and detaild sound while the HD's were moving all around my head, just spent a lot of time to get the perfect fit and position.
Now I know I don't really need other/ more expensive headphones than the 1770, just a Hugo2. :D

Whilst I absolutely LOVE the 1770's, IMO they're no HD800-beaters. The mids of the 800's are just sublime, and the 1770's have quite a recessed midrange that can sound a little recessive. This is best heard when listening to classical, which are the 800's forte.
HOWEVER, when listening to rock & pop, and something with a bit of bass slam, the 1770's just nail-it! I would much prefer to listen to the 1770's when listening to this type of genre. They're VERY fun cans! :gs1000smile:

I can't speak about classical music, just gave them tech death metal. :)

Z7 are trash. Get the 1770. They are much better. The t5p are not as good either. I do like the Amiron wireless as a comfortable closed back, but they don't isolate well. The 1770 isolate better.

Mediocre sound quality. It is not as clear as the 1770. It has good bass slam, but the overall clarity is lacking in comparison to the 1770. It's not so much about EQ of the phones or any of that. That's adjustable using Poweramp. It's overall SQ. The Z7 were just really disappointing for the price. They were okay, but back and forth with my Amiron Home, and the Home just murdered them.
