Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless

It's a bit unfortunate that there is no Beyer rep here in this forum. If so, they might hear your plea :) I like to add one more enhancement which is a slightly longer headband.
Funnily enough I always thought the headbands are short without thinking, like too short but it seems it's not just me.

My biggest beef is with the button. Can't always tell if it was pressed or not. Touch controls are very responsive though, love those.

I don't notice any latency using BT nor difference in sound between wireless and wired.
What makes BT 5 so special?

Beyerdynamic uses their "Update Hub" software that acts as the go between between their servers and the headphones, so I don't have a "firmware" update file to check for you - whatever the current firmware for the Amiron Wireless was on Sept 3rd would have been what was installed. I'd already uninstalled the Beyer Update Hub software so there wasn't anything to check for a download.

But, that sounds possible - the updated firmware screwed up the connectivity - hopefully my next one will have a 1.x version and I won't update. Hmm, thinking back I thought there was quite a gap between what version it came with vs what the update hub installed - sorry I can't recall the version but it could have been a 1.x vs 2.x gap.

BTW, that DT990 600 ohm Chrome Edition I posted as having ordered came in, it's pristine - I won't even need to replace the pads or headphone band. And, it's sound is amazing out of the box - everything made by Beyerdynamic I have listened to sounds great! So far Beyerdynamic are batting 1.000 as far as sound!

Has anyone gone through the process of upgrading their fixed wired BD DT series to balanced? Wondering if I should go for single connector multiple poles or dual connector, any suggestions on how much it should cost or where I can get it done for a reasonable price? I'd like to upgrade my DT770 DT880x2 DT990 to balanced, so price is gonna need to be reasonable to consider upgrading all 4.
Chrome edition still in sale?

I recently bought a pair of Amiron Wireless and overall I'm really happy with them. However, there is an intrusive squeal from the left ear when connected to bluetooth. The headphones only need to be connected to a device (I've tried iphone, laptop and desktop) for the sound to occur, nothing needs to be playing. It's almost like a capacitor/coil whine from a power supply. Once I heard it, I couldn't un-hear it and it's horribly obvious in quiet passages of music.

I'd really like to keep the headphones but not if the squeal is typical. Has anybody else heard anything similar? You can hear the noise more clearly if you press your ear to the back of the left-hand earpiece. I'm going to return this pair, but I'll only ask for a replacement if this is a fault and not normal for the headphones.

I've had the Amiron Wireless for some time now and have never experienced and squeal or whine on my pair. I really like these headphones. Sounds like you got a defective unit.

Chrome edition still in sale?
It was an eBay sale in Oct 2020:

Beyer Dynamic DT 990 Pro 600 Ohm Chrome Special Edition - Serial Number: 320 (143737110538) ITEM PRICE: US $215.00

I also enjoy this 600 ohm model I got off of eBay:

Beyerdynamic DT 880 - Black Special Edition - 600 Ohm Premium Stereo Headphones (174449382027) ITEM PRICE: C $249.99 = $198.33 USD
https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-beyerdynamic-dt880-discussion-thread.429371/post-15934448

I do see some some non-Chrome DT990 600 ohm, and DT 880 listed now, but none are an exact match.

I also have a pair of the DT 880 250 ohm, which are still available on Ebay:

BeyerDynamic DT 880 250 ohm Headphones Premium Special Edition Chrome (717258) - $209.00 - I didn't buy from this seller...there are more listings for that model.

Good hunting! It took me several months of watching and waiting before I found them. :)

No, it isn't normal, my Amiron Copper Wireless were quiet and sounded great when connected via BT. The problem I returned my Amiron Copper Wireless for was audio connection dropout's, even when sitting near the BT source:

I wouldn't send them in for repair - that could take a long time and not end up with a functioning headphone. If your return period hasn't expired I would return them for a full refund and then try again with another unit.

Or, get an Amiron Home and a BT/DAC/AMP/DAP device that you can change whenever you like in the future.

I know it sucks, I hated returning mine too, but if that particular unit isn't functioning as expected that is the reason for the return period. If I wasn't happy with them I wouldn't let the return period expire without returning them.

Good luck!

I have received my Amiron wireless (ordered directly from Beyer) and to be honest I’m quite pleased with it, some impressions :

- comfort is quite good, very light, cups are comfortable
- having no cables, dap, amp, etc. is a new experience for me, it is not cumbersome and I really enjoy the freedom of wireless
- sound is definitely not closed, no resonance and so on, it is really surprising, you have the impression that you are listening to an open headphone, really nice
- wireless sound is not tiring, you can listen to it for hours, no agressive trebble, smooth sound, no blend of bass into the mids, some will say it is warm and dark but it is really when compared to other headphones, no excessive darkeness or warm for me
- I must have a bad hearing because my wireless volume is 100% and MIY app adjustement is also 100% : I would have prefered more headroom, it can be frustrating for some people
EDIT : check if your smartphone has software volume limitation (my iphone had)
- even if wireless volume is not very loud the sound remains very musical, not boring, it has a nice sense of rythm
- wired it sounds more powerful, robust, etc. sound is audiophile level, no frustration

For now it is a keeper for me, I have also ordered Beyer T1.3, can’t wait to listen to it.

How long have you got your Amiron Wireless? If not long, give it a few days to one week and you'll love it even much more due to brain burn-in. And the earpads will be adjusted after some use so the comfort will be much better.

The sound is indeed not closed, the spaciousness is excellent. And your volume issue when using it wireless, it might be your device like a smartphone itself. For example, my PSVita has a limit of volume and it won't let me up the volume much more so I disabled it. But of course, your issue might differ to smartphones as not all have the same volume limits.

The Amiron Wireless (Copper) is one of the most fine headphones out there!
