Hey exhale, where did you buy yours from ? Everything with my pair is perfect. It sounds like you got a returned pair, and someone horsed around with changing pads. You should take a picture or two and upload to the thread so we can all see.

I bought them from muziker.ro (the domain is .ro because they also do business here, in Romania but only sales and customer service; all shipping is done from Slovakia).

These are the best photos i could take. The more i look at the box, the more i realize that this was not a new product. I tried to bring the earpads at the same superior level, so you can see the difference on the bottom part of it. I retested and my ears aren't touching the fabric in front of the driver...i have to push it towards my ears a bit, to make full contact. BUT, it sits loose, on the left side.
After checking with the other owners' product numbers, i reckon it's a rather recently built pair. The cable had that specific rubber/electric smell to it, when i unboxed it so it might be possible that they put in a new cable. I've sent them a message but i guess it's a tad too late for anyone to answer. Hope they'll do it tomorrow.

Hi exhale, welcome to our Amiron's family! :)
I've bought mine in April 2018 (in Greece), and the part number is 3799. As for unboxing - I didn't notice any dirt or anything like that. The box itself was in perfect condition too. The purchase was made in a physical store (not online), and they unboxed this cans in front of me.

If you feel that something wrong with your pair - is it possible to ask for replacement in your case?
Sorry for not multi-quoting but it's late and i'm a tad tired. Yes, the store still has to obey the same European laws regarding ecommerce (or commerce done at distance). They have a 30 day return period but i was thinking... although i know it's a stretch, maybe i can ask them to send me a replacement and once that arrives, i'll just hand over this pair. I doubt it'll happen but i'll try.

Amiron scales very well with high-end gear like Hugo, iFi iDSD BL, or something like Burson Play, I tested them :)

Amiron sounded incredible thru my Metrum Musette and Wells Milo. They lovw power and resolution. Most comfortable pair of headphones I have experienced.

Hey exhale, I am also convinced that you got a used pair. To start, that box is in pretty rough shape. Someone may have had fit issues or comfort issues, and started screwing around with the pads, or stretching out the headband to make the headphones fit looser. I would be rather pissed off to get a used headphone instead of a new one, especially when it costs 600 US. Hopefully you can get that returned to the dealer, and get a new one. The number on my Amiron is 03715.

I use Amiron with iFi iDSD (not BL), and I'm thinking about upgrading my combo. An obviois option is to upgrade to BL, but will I get a real noticeable improvement? I'm limited to transportable gear only, can't use heavy desktop devices.
Did you try Amiron on balanced connection? I can't find any portable combo with balanced output and powerful enough to drive these cans.

I used my M3S balanced and it drives it perfectly fine

I actually hate it that i have to go through this because i kept lying myself that, hey, it’s just some minor, exterior wear and tear due to bad storage handling, etc.

Thanks to everyone who replied with their number, I’ll take it to the retailer and see where i end up.
