The DT770 Pro have a kind of hammock frequency response, much bass and treble but they are a little on the bright side.
 
But the T1 are a bit dark compared to the HD800.

That's my thinking, it's a refresh of the entire line. Remember the last time during the refresh when both lines did overlap, the pro, the non-pro, and then 2005 edition all out there at the same time. It smells like the same thing here.

I concur, and expect a T90 to replace the DT990, but the T1 itself seems to be the DT880 evolved already. A T80 would be kind of a T1/2

Uhhh, Beyer intended it to be portable... Hardly fair to ask that. I suppose it's the same argument as 'plug in your DT48 into a 120ohm jack and eternal audio bliss will fall upon you'. (lol )

Well it's not like I'm the one who made them, you don't have to blame me for plugging into the 120ohm out to see what happens. Beyer's own amp isn't exactly a 0 ohm headphone out.
 
The paradox is that from an iPhone they sound fine too. But plugging into a bigger source I guess reveals brightness that wasn't intended for 0 ohm. That might change with some burn in or it might not. It doesn't really matter to me as long as they sound good with my stuff.

An off-topic but I will get the DT931 in a few days and then I can compare them plugged in a 120 Ohm output or appr. 0 Ohm..

I find the numeration of the new Beyer's models very confusing within the portable/closed category, with the new T70p positionned right between the T5p and T50p. The T50p was obviously meant to be the little brother of the T5p, so what does this make the T70p ? A cousin ? An after thought ?
 
An I hope the new T70 is not a replacement for the DT770, because that would be indeed a stiff inflation for that new Tesla technology !

Umm, I don't get it. Why can't the dt series get refreshes with newer technology? Why isn't that allowed? It doesn't make sense...
 
And the t50p and dt1350 are much much more portable, being on-ear.
 
I think the t5p is getting its numbering from the old dt5xx series personally. That was always the next-step down from flagship models, historically.

the Pads have a very soft verlourlike material, whiach have a smaller texture than verlour. the pads are filled wiht osme kind of liquid or gel, they are VERY compfortable, especially for people with glasses. Beyer told me this is the idea behin the pads, they made them with people wearing glasses in mind lol! the liquid inside also isolates noise much better than any foam/verlour material.
