FWIW--just went thru the entire "Portaphiles got no love" thread and found the battery info for the "new"--as of 4/13/08--iPower 520 Pro LiPo battery. Posts " 148 on page 10, and posts 156 and 157 are very interesting insights into batteries and determining battery lfe. Looks like I 'll have to buy these guys plus the charger, which I'm told will also charge regular NiMh batteries.
These higher-performance Lithium Polymer batteries are from Trew audio.
also in the same trheads: post 120 on Page 8 it's stated that the Ultralife 1200 maH disposable 9v LiPo delivered 20 hrs performance for the Portaphile; I never got that performance from mine but if you do want to try the Ultralife try to find the plastic body style; the aluminum-clad doesn't fit the Portaphile and needs to be sanded down quite a bit, which can be messy. Stated this on one of the pages of that thread
