I ordered a set from shoplet.com for $540 and got an email that they were discontinued. Now they are $590 something. Sounds like someone didnt want to sell them at that price anymore. Anybody know where a good price is from a a good dealer?

Thanks!, I was just wondering why it said "fellows denon" and they said they where drop shipped from a vendor and no picture. It just looked a little shady?

I had a discussion with an audio retailer about pricing on the D7000. When J&R sells them for @ $550, they are selling them at just a few dollars (that's right - very few) over cost. In fact this retailer was considering stopping selling Denon headphones because of this situation. So while it may be great how big a discount the D7000's can be had for, it may not be in Denon's best interest in the long run if a bunch of retailers decide not to carry them any more because there is no money in it.

In conclusion... order them before the retailers (and Denon) come to their senses!

Why is J&R so inconsistent? I heard someone who just got it today for $550. And isn't it free shipping?

J&R, while inconsistent to a degree, keep in mind, it's often the sale rep you end up talking to, I have called them as long as over a week waiting to hear the price I want to pay for gear, I would keep trying. Never ordered a Denon from them, but have got some great deals, hang in there.

I'll probably try asking again tomorrow, although when I told him that I was a member of head-fi and I was looking for a price around $600, he was kinda like "what?? really??" so I doubt that I'm gonna be able to get a lower price, but no harm in trying

He said if I buy it at $999, it would be free ship, but since i wanted a discount, he couldnt give me free shipping, and then I asked what the discounted price would be, and he said "give me a min to look it up" and he came back with $800 plus $17 ship.

Wasn't too difficult for me. Got 'em for 600 plus shippin'. Since I'm not a US resident I had to pay applicable shipping fee btw, but if you live in the states, you just might be able to get 'em w/o it. If you wanna try via the salesman I talked to, pm me. I will disclose his name and his ext.

j&r said, they will no longer give the $550 price.
I wonder if that's just the rep or a policy now.
