Retailing is quite tightly regulated here, and I think a lot of firms take advantage of our geographic isolation.   
 

That is unfortunate to a certain extent, as it must stifle experimentation. OTOH, it might promote a more thorough and sober thought process in system building.
 
My motivation in ordering the HD650 by Christmas, is to audition its new style drivers, and to come to a better understanding of my system in-progress with the 650 as an option.

Sorry to dig up a super old thread. But I simply couldn't find any retailer that sells the HD650 for less than $499 now.

A year ago the 650's were $340 or less delivered and now they are $500 delivered.  That's a 47% price increase on a classic but aging can.

In mid October, I got my 600's for $270 shipped (probably not the lowest price) and now they are Mapped at $500.  That's over an 85% price increase for an even older classic can.
