They need some burn in to sound their best but when they do they are simply amazing for the music you listen to. With burn in the bass tightens up and the mids and highs come out a bit. They have foam pieces covering the drivers which can be taken out to make the bass much less boomy and the mids and highs come out much more(I have removed them). 
 
They clamp hard though so comfort may be an issue. You will have to stretch them over books or the like to reduce the clamping force. You can also replace the default pads with hd 25 velours at the expense of some bass and isolation but the comfort, mids and highs improve. I am using them with the pads of the coby cv-185 and they have decent isolation, the bass is great and is not boomy, and the mids and highs come out a bit more as well compared to the default pads.... comfort with coby cv-185 pads are better than the stock pads but can get uncomfortable as the pads are shallow and I have elvish ears ) .
 
These have great bass(the low end feels heavy) with great highs and nice mids(a tiny bit recessed to my ears) which equals to a really fun sounding headphone.

Thank you very much for your review. Definitely will buy the akg 518, I can find a used 30 euro and I think they are a bargain.
As I said before, will buy another model to really understand what meets my needs.

The Atrio M5s have amazing base and do everything else well enough.  I think they isolate at 22 db which is reasobable but not great.  A good value imho.

Do you think the jvc s500 to 25 € shipped are a good buy?
I could compare them with the akg K518, to note which of the 2 sound better for my taste.

I'd say its an insane deal, it is less than I paid for s400. If you are in europe, I'd say just getting the s500 shipped is quite nice. Would you happen to have a source on that since my friend has been so impressed with my s400's he is going to buy some and if he can get s500's for less, I'd definitely advice him to do that.

 S500 and k518 is no match for Marshall Majors ($83 on Amazon) The Marshall have a more defined bass, better soundstage, crystal clear highs and of course, are the loudest headphones you can get for under $100.

I was going to ask you the same if you already had them. I've been looking for the Sennheiser pads in Canada but it's hard to get. I don't like the stock pads of the K518 as they really hold these headphone's back compared to the Organic pads I have on them. With the organic pads they sound excellent. The Sennheiser velours should be a step further and if I get my hands on them I'll let you know how they sound.
