So I have $300 to spend for new headphones or IEMs. I currently have the D1100, S4, M50 and had the Sony XB500(stolen). I love listening to all kinds music except metal. Can you guys recommend something better than D1100 for headphones and S4 for IEMs? I'm interested with the Sony MDR-EX600, are these good?

For the IEMs , the senn IE8  are often praised here.  I like my senn IE7, they are very lightweight, robust, and with a great bass and soundstage. I  can guess that the IE8  can only be better.
The srh940 is a great can for sure, but is bass shy & bright. I  like them, more & more with time, I  recently got them too.

the GR07 seems to be getting a lot of praise recently so you might want to look into that. It's only $179. There was also a small discussion about how it sounded similar to the EX600 as well, which is why I brought it up.

I know that I will be buying a pair soon.

thnaks! IE8's are out of my budget. I came across with the Shure SE315 which has the same price as EX600. Still don't know which one to get?

consider then the IE7, the gap between IE8 and IE7 is not as big as for the price.
Otherwise they are the phonaks.  You might take a look at the anythingbutipod website, the reviewer have tested a lot of iems. Now I  must sleep.

Maybe a pair of Grados? SR-225i or 325i? Depends on what you like though. I personally love the Grado house sound. I haven't heard their IEMs but from reviews I'll assume they're also good :)

The Beyerdynamic DT770/880/990 "Pro" models are a pretty good deal. I just got a DT990-250 Pro for around $170 on Amazon and I'm pretty happy with it, but it all depends on what kind of sound you're looking for...

Hi, thanks for the reply. I love listening to house or should I say, bass songs. I found a good deal with Beyerdynamic DT990 32 ohm. are these good? I chose 32ohm because I only have an Fiio amp and an iPad so that it would be easy to drive them. How are the bass on these? I currently have D1100 and M50. Are the Beyer's a good upgrade?

Thee beyers are definitely going to be a bass upgrade over the D1100s. Not too sure about the M50s (I've never tried them) But I've tried beyers, and the quality of the bass is also better (probably over the M50s as well.

I haven't heard the 32 ohm version, but I imagine it's very similar to the 250 ohm version. The 250 ohm version is not as hard to drive as many people make it out to be, in my opinion anyway. I can get them as loud as I need on my laptop, though my ipod can't get them much louder than medium listening volumes. But 32 ohm is supposed to be easier to drive if anything.

I listen to a lot of electro and they are great for this purpose. The bass is deep and powerful and the big soundstage makes all the little effects sound amazing. Very 3-d and layered, and bassy textures have an almost physical presence if that makes sense. I can feel the ripping sawtooth synth noises, and really deep bass literally vibrates my head.

They were a substantial upgrade from my previous two headphones, the Sony MDR V6 and Sennheiser HD 280. I haven't heard the ones you've mentioned, so I'm afraid I can't really answer your question though.
