One thing to remember, the Schitt Lyr is a SS/Tube Hybridm not all tube...
Done right like the Lyr and best of both worlds for some...The input is tube and output is SS
 
My demo with the Lyr was positive, but chose the Burson Soloist SL, because my Decware CSP2 otl tube amp was doing everything for me that the Lyr did...
 
The Lyr might be just right for your AKG 702...great control and transparency of SS, with the ability to roll input tubes, and the price, reliability, and rep of Schiitt is well known.
 
My experience with the AKG and the Soloist was particularly notably for me because I did not own an amp that made my AKG 701's shine until the Burson Soloist SL

They compare the C5D and O2 side by side. 
 
Peppeb mentioned the soloist sl. It's a step up in performance over the O2 and it's a pretty neutral amp.

I have K702. I'd suggest a Violectric V200 as a killer match. If that's out of the budget, I'd go for a M-Stage. Good luck.

I use my K701 with the Schiit Vali and i am very excited about the pairing (and the price).
This is the combination which stays after a big downgrade i made.

I don't know if these is a late reply,I have Q7*1 with LITTLE DOT MK III and for me the pairing is good Q  sound smoother a little bass light but after i did the Bass port MOD it sound a lot better with LD MK III IMO.

Wouldn´t be the LD 1+ a better match then LD MK III?
Just because of it´s an hybrid and the K701 is low impedance and low efficient.
I never heard one of them it´s just an idea...

Sigh, I've had K701's for years now.  I need an amp hopefully cheaper than 150 dollars that can drive these.  I'm on the opposite spectrum of most of you guys.  Funds are tight

I'd suggest a used M Stage.
