S5 can play Flac files, I havee them on my memory card, they must be: FLAC 44.1 KHz/16 bits, 44.1 KHz/24 bits.

S5 has voice recording option, just go to bookmark RECORDINGS and choose START A VOICE RECORDING. As for FM recordings, I don't see it

That means only higher mAh battery and FM recording feature.... Oh plus e-book reading and album art can be displayed. It should be called S5 remake. haha

I have an iPod Nano 2nd gen, how would the S5 fare against the iPod? My iPod is over 10 years old now and the battery is kinda wonky recently, and I'm thinking to get a new DAP altogether (changing the battery takes so much work plus I'm stuck with 4GB)

If it's so much worse than the iPod then I'll skip the the S5, else, I'm kind of interested..

I am looking to buy AGPTEK M20 as well. Is this a good buy or is there anything worth mention in the same price range ?

This is going to be my backup DAP.

After hours of research, I think the S5/M20 is an amazing buy (still waiting for it in the mail though). I paid $30.00 CAN for the Benjie S5 on Gearbest. The Agptek M20 is $40.00 CAN on Amazon USA.

could someone with both a Ruizu X02 (AGPtek A02) and a Benjie S5 (AGPtek M20) help me do a comparison to see if they sound different?

I have a M20 for about a month and just received X02 and am worried that the X02 is defective because it has less bass and harsh treble compared to the M20.

TIA

We must be subscribed to the exact same threads :-)

Anyway, I have both (I have way too many budget players! Stopping now though as I've found the emperor of budget gear with the Walnut ;-)

Don't think the Ruizu has anywhere close to the sound quality of the Benjie. To my ears, the Ruizu sounds flat and 'closed in' in comparison.

The Ruizu has its uses though for a few reasons as an extra player to have around as:

1. It's amazingly inexpensive for the functionality you get, considering its a lot cheaper than even the Benjie. I mean £12 from gearbest for a player that is even vaguely listenable is amazing, never mind that it actually sounds ok, supports a 64gb card and displays the album art.

2. Really lightweight.

3. Battery lasts a zillion years before it runs out so no worries for travelling or even a festival or something. I've slept using it for multiple nights with no charges between, it's played all night and still not run out of battery!

4. In bed you don't want to end up with something metal touching you on a cold night, it is a nice reassuring warm plastic!

Just don't expect similar sound quality.

Could you please compare both players in terms of their bass, mid and treble for me? No EQ on both players

Thank you!

Hy guys, i just got problem. I connect my benjie s5 to walnut v2 (as amp), and it can't browse the music (by album, by artist, etc). So i can only browse by folder. Is it normal?

-------------Edited-------------------

I figure out the problem. I just take the micro sd out to copy more songs and not make a list yet. So, everytime i play song from sd card, the music options not accessible, so does the next or prev song uaing volume button when the screen locked. The solution is simply restart the player and when it ask to make new list, just choose yes :grin:

Well that was harder than I thought it would be, I thought the difference would be far more marked to be honest.

Listened to a variety of tracks, on the Monk plus earbuds...

- Amaranthe, The Nexus (Poppy metal with female and male (both clean and growled) vocals
- Chess musical soundtrack, Merano
- Beastie Boys, Brass Monkey
- Pantera, Walk.

The Benjie I'd say had a subtly clearer more open overall sound across the mids and a bit more sparkle to the treble. Not massive differences.

I was fairly convinced that there was more noticeable bass on the Beastie Boys and Pantera tracks. This difference might be magnified depending on what you're listening through I suppose, the Monk plus aren't really that bassy and I'd guess there might be more of a difference if listening through IEMs.

To be honest, either the Ruizu sounded a bit better than I remembered, or the Benjie a bit worse, as I expected the difference to be night and day, whereas I had to keep swapping between players.

I have a stinking cold though which might be affecting my ears!

What kind of music are you playing?

I listen to american pop, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga to name a few

I am not very good at describing sound stage yet, but bass and treble are easy to tell, so that's where I can tell the difference.

the S5/M20 just have more treble and bass extensions, and less artificial

but comparing to what you just described, I am worried I may have a defection X02?
