Benjie Offical Thread

Why defective? A player is one factor but another one equally important or more is what earphones you use with it?

I've tried Piston 3, monoprice 8320, KZ Zs3 and Xiaomi Hybrid on both S5/M20 and Ruizu X02, and the difference I noted above is consistent through each IEM.

Hi, a year and a half ago i had opened this thread

Since then i bought a primary DAP but i want a cheap second one as a back up. The same things i wanted for my primary one are the things i want for the secondary: Loudness (Rockboxed Sansa Clip+/Zip level), good battery life, the ability to play PC made playlists(media player, winamp etc..) would be a great plus, gapless playback would be good.

I am trying to pick between Benjie S5 and K9. How do they compare against each other. From what I've read, they seem almost the same with different hardware layouts and different screens. They Both have battery life of about 58 hours / 20 hours playback with headsets(although some list 12 hours of playback for the K9, I don't know which one is closer to reality).

What Do You Think? Which one is the louder one? Which one has the greater battery? Which one has the better sound overall? Which one can play playlists? Which One supports gapless playback? Which one is easier to use? And most of all are we talking about big differences or are they almost the same in every respect.

As a third and fourth alternative how about those ones?

I have the K9. No gapless (you don't find that on many players at this level.) Battery level is excellent as is volume. Handles playlists on internal memory (again a common limitation).

So same chip means same sound and volume? Sorry about the stupid questions but my knowledge on this field is very limited.

No it doesn't.

Are people getting different ear buds with their Benjie S5/Agptek M20? Someone who got a promotional review model on Amazon Canada has a blue and black pair. This photo is from September.

I got an unbranded S5 off a friend, thankfully it came with the Benjie headphones. If anyone is thinking of buying I'd recommend they stick to the Benjie version to get the BJ-49 included, I've found myself using them a ridiculous amount over the past few days for albums where I look for a neutral sound, that said I do amp them with a Topping NX1A. They're not going to replace my out and about IEMs but they're really exceptional for a bundled earbud.

I've also got the Xduoo X2, overall I would say I marginally prefer the S5, the only thing I'm not impressed with is no physical pause button for when the screen is off and why the power button is the only one to reactivate the screen rather than the main button, and why they felt it needs a lock button is very strange.

It sounds like all those people saying the Benjie S5 is better than the Xduoo X3/Fiio 3II etc., might be wrong? The X2 is around $50, and the Benjie is only about $20. less. Maybe they're feeling the Placebo effect from reading all the messages on this thread? (I've read every one!)

I haven't used either the X3 or Fiio so couldn't definitively say, there's nothing exceptional about the S5 other than value though, as you say it can be had considerably cheaper than the X2 and much less than X3 or Fiio players and the bundled phones are nice. It's not going to win any awards for sound or UI but likewise it won't disappoint for the money either.
