I think sound quality should be very similar since they're using the same chip. So its down between dedicated volume buttons and touch screen of the S5 vs speaker and colour screen of the K9. I went with the K9 since I prefer the design and the heft (heavier so would feel less "cheap") .

A little ticked off after finding out the price on taobao (my K9 is still on the way from penon aliexpress store) but I suppose it's still a very good deal. My guess is its discounted as there was not much talk about the K9 vs the S5 which may have affected sales.

Got one last night and it blows me away! It can drive my Oppo and Hifiman Planars!
 
Soundstage is very good. SQ is lot better than my iPod Touch and Samsung S7 Edge. I like the rock EQ better.

You got the S5 I suppose? Looking good. Very excited for my K9. I already pulled the trigger on a cheap portable amp that's supposedly released a couple of months back. Good to know that the player is decently powered. Hard to pass up that value.

Yes the S5 and K9 are both ridiculously good value. Amazing what you can get for a 20 spot.

Yes, the S5.
 
Powerful for its size. With IEMs, volume is around 12-14. With the Monk+, 16-18. Goes full blast with my HE-400i.

If it's the same one I got with my K9 (I assume it's the same one) then yes, they are very hard to drive.

I'm always amazed how quickly I get stuff from China, my xDuoo's, colorfly and benjie all arrive in 2 weeks or less (think the Benjie only took 10 days) to UK. maybe I was lucky or this is standard?! never had to pay extra. fingers crossed for you.
