With respect to Headamp, his issues seem to be largely case related. Which is to say, he doesn't stock them. So when he gets orders he has to order cases from his case manfacturer, get them annodized, engraved/silkscreeened, etc... Moreover each process seems to be with a different company which can lengthen the process.
From what I can tell by reading threads over the years it doesn't seem like he orders cases until he gets a certain amount of orders (a number unbeknownst to anybody but Justin) or a certain amount of time passes, which is equally as arbitrary.
Given his small volume that certainly makes sense, as the more you order the cheaper it is and the higher prioirty it tends to be. That being said, it baffles me why he doesn't suck it up and keep a few cases in stock in anticipation for orders or switch to a run based business model, like Eddie Current.
That being said, 8 weeks is a totally bogus lead time and the only way he'll ever achieve that is by having cases (and other parts) in stock.

Yes the amps mentioned in this thread are very expensive and you have some control over how it turns out but I'd rather just have a standard edition this week rather than wait a month+ for my special edition. All comes down to what you really want to do I guess. Even with some smaller [cheaper] amps, there is a waiting time. |
