I can understand a player based for audiophile who want best audio quality but lack of FLAC support is why there's hardly any interest in Aune M1.

Aune M1 really is nice sounding affordable DAP. It can't play anything besides WAV, but in sound quality it wins hands down even against more expensive competitors.

Aune promised spare DACs, made by them, but none still out. Luckily there is wise guys in China, made replacement card themselves. In can be purchased from TaoBao: http://tw.taobao.com/item/40367662569.htm?fromSite=main

Installation is pretty simple, I've made simple video with manual, but sellers also provide manual in PPTX format

After installation I've made some A/B testing, using second Aune M1 and Fiio HS switch.

Choir offers more neutral sounding, revealing more details. This boost in details and microdynamics allows modified Aune to build more natural soundstage, with bigger width and depth. Also, it became better in revealing small "features" in songs. So, for about $75, Aune M1 can be boosted even further in sound quality.

I hope M2 (or how they'll call their next DAP) will also offer possibility to replace DAC and amp section.

If someone added higher Res codecs to the FW, I'd consider trying this combo. Hard to find great sound for under $300.

How is this player for sensitive iems? I usually listen at a very low volume (1-2 clicks from 0) Some players are too loud for me at low volume. Would this player be too powerful with not enough room for volume adjustments? Also, anyone compare this with the Shozy Alien? The iems I use are in my profile. Thanks.
