Well, the SE cable that I actually prefer to use was about $10 from ebay... so..... lol

I guess I could go up to $30 maybe...probably impossible.

Cable may shout on you or shy from you sometimes.
Cable is passive device and so is the phone, which is regarded as extension of the cable.
You might invest more and get more in surprising way.
Cable can be a filter that really filters some spectra or entire spectra whether in better or worse.
There is simple science in conjunction of deep science of psycho-acoustic complexity between your cable-phone-brain.

I was only considering it so that I can take advantage of the powerful balanced output from the DX120. I am not going to spend a lot just to try that. I have other amps.

@mbwilson111 - Ok, this one is probably the cheapest but decent I could find using contemporary means (Ebay).

I've actually order a balanced XLR and a singled-ended from them and still waiting for them to arrive, so I can't vouch for the quality yet!

Thanks. I do like the look of it. The length is good for using with a DAP. The iBasso DX120 does a 2.5mm TRRS balanced out. I have used it with a couple of buds that have balanced cables, and 1 IEM. My Opus #1 also has the 2.5mm balanced out.

Are you sure that this will work with the nighthawk? The connectors for the cups are a little different..

Should be fine @mbwilson111, The NH's take a dual mono 2.5mm plug I believe, I've been using my Hifiman cables with the NH's as they are less microphonic than the stock cable, which have a stereo TRS 2.5mm.

All seems to work fine, I've even just tried the original stock cable again and it sounds the same as the Hifiman one.

Did you notice much difference going balanced with your IEM's?

Yup. Since each is made to order it takes a while to get it. Worth the wait. If you wanted it shorter I'm sure they would do that for you.

I have been looking at Silver Dragon 10ft cable by Moon Audio. Think it costs more than the NightHawks! I am trying to get a little more detail; Drew feels the Silver Dragon gets the best out of them. Currently using them with a Metrum Aurix being fed by a Metrum Musette and Auralic Aries Mini over SPDIF Coax.

I am still in love with my NHs BTW. Such lovely headphones. I have fallen asleep wearing them more times than I can remember!

I have been wondering about also buying a pair of Owls while they are still available. Do any of you own both? Is it worthwhile or not for you?
