I don't think I'd do that since the headband setup on the Nighthawk is a bit sophisticated.
Instead, you might want to try having a replacement headband made. Someone at Dekoni Audio was looking to purchase a Nighthawk. Not sure why but perhaps it was to create an aftermarket headband and needed a pair of them to do so.

You can add a rubber band on the headband.

if you are handy with the needle you can consider rebuilding the headband and replace the elastic band inside...

Anyone know where one can get new pads for these? I really like the cloth/alcantara? pads more than the protein leather. I just know they won't last forever.

I was prepared to make a mess of things and didn't want to spend too much. Plus they're cheap enough I can always order another one if I botch the first piece.
