I've bought the Aucharm fuses several times, though it was during recaps so any effect would be lost in the mix of new parts. I'm restoring something new right now though and, after that's done and burnt in I'd be willing to do an honest comparison.....but that wont be happening for at least a month

Whatever is already in it.
Unfortunately, I don't know what fuse is in the LPS.

What is typically used in an LPS? Slow or fast?

Do you not have the LPS on hand to check?

The type probably comes down to the design and what kind of current its protecting for

Does it state the specs on the fuse itself?

Its this LPS from aliexpress.

All standard power supplies use slow-blow fuses. For the reason that the capacitors in the power supplies can draw a large current for a short time. So the quick fuses would blow.

Thanks, what do you recommend for the 5v LPS @ 65watts. Its being used to power a JCAT usb pci card.

Depends about your voltage.

That seems kind of low, I was thinking it'd need to be at least 4A and was considering 6A.

Reason why is the ifi ipower x I had before was 5V 4A.

And 2,5A is too much. But if you buy expensive fuse, you want maybe little more.
I=P/U=65/115=0,57A
But you have capacitors in device, resistence isn't pure working resistance, so more is determined.
Sorry, English isn't my first language.

Yeah thats my concern, these fuses aren't crazy expensive but they're not cheap either and I just want to be safe.

But I also don't want it to pop.

Another way to say this is…
During a 'normal' turn on, the inrush current is usually much more then the normal run time current demand.

So, slow blow fuses are usually chosen because they 'allow' (for short periods of time) greater current flow than their 'rating' would suggest.
This also works in our favor in that, if there is a 'peak demand' for current, the fuse won't be as likely to pop 'for no reason', yet will pop if the greater demand for current persists (ie an internal short or problem etc.).

Just another way to think about the dynamics involved.

In the Gustard X26 pro (U18 as well) thread most who changed the fuse prefer the SR Purple.
Funny enough I can't remember anyone in the Ferrum thread even mentioning changing their Hypsos fuse... Isn't the Oor's fuse not changeable?
The Devices I'm thinking about tweaking...
Anyone experience with these devices in here?
I changed my Hypsos fuse to an SR Purple and I immediately saw a degradation in sound quality. I moved forward with burn-in but SQ didn't improve. I'm a fan of the SR Purples, I have three others installed throughout my chain. This however this was the first instance that I didn't care for the upgrade and went back to stock.

Many report the direction of the fuse to be important, did you try switching direction?
