I don't understand why Audio-GD is still selling two verions of NFB-2/3, I thought that WM8805 upgrade fix the need to choose between 96 or 192 version. When I ordered mine (two weeks ago), they didn't ask me which version I wanted. A few days ago I emailed Edwin asking about that but I haven't get any answer yet.

Btw, Happy New Year to everyone.

They say the dir9001 sounds very neutral, and wm8805 has a sound signature like the wm8741 dac chip, neutral but a little smooth.

Now that audio-gd fixed the jitter in the 192khz version, is there much of a difference between the 96khz and 192khz versions?

Neutral dir9001 vs a little smooth wm8805. If you get the wm8741 and the wm8805 the end result would be smoother than wm8741+dir9001.

I was curious about that too. Maybe only one version had issues that need to be fixed?

Thanks haloxt, I just emailed Kingwa asking about that. The most of the time I'm going to match the NFB-3 with a Phonar Veritas M3 bookshelf speakers, which have a neutral signature already. According to that, which one would be the best option, DIR9001 or WM8805?

The differences will be very small, so I wouldn't sweat over the choice.

My NFB-3 is with me right now.

I don't want to jump on conclusions at this moment but it is very easy to distinguish a better sound than my Compass. Soundstage, details and a more forward mid are the main differences right now, and it doesn't have the harsh highs I read somewhere. This is from one hour listening, hope the sound continue to improves with burn in, as happened with my Compass.

Congrats!
Did you find any audible difference between connecting the DAC by Coax or Toslink?

Due to poorly written english the differences between the NFB-3 and NFB-2 are not really apparent to me.  Anyone care to explain? I am seriously thinking of pulling the trigger over my maverick Tube Magic D1

Primarily, NFB3 has a better power supply design for the digital and analog circuit. Whether this translates into improvement worth the cost difference hasn't been established. I'm not aware of a retail DAC that has as much attention paid to power supply in that price range, that's for sure.

I haven't tried the toslink yet because I don't have this connection in my setup, but I'll compare USB x Coaxial soon.

To my awareness, Kingwa hasn't explained in detail about the difference between the two. I am only aware of him saying that there is not a big difference, and that NFB-3 is better bang for buck. The NFB-3 is only a temporary product, and sells at a promo price.
