So, a friend of mine has Loaned me his References 7.1. I will have about 1 month to have fun with this. So my plan is to enjoy it for the while, and details comparison later :D (VS R2R-7)

It is essentially Master 7 with Upgraded singularity board , and upgraded Burson Opamps with Solid Goldplated Copper wires for output


Are the op amps plug and play or did your friend have to solder them in?

They are plug and play, but my friend is comparing r2r7 and his now. The Burson is running underpowered due to the PS on the design, and so it can not extract the details as good on upper spectrum, so that as one of the reason why my r2r7 was obviously better

Does anyone know how to convert higher than 192kHz spdif signals to I2S? I will be buying Chord M Scaler soon and I would like to provide the best digital input to my to my A-Gd HE-7 Singularity. It means e.g.: Chord M Scaler with 500k TAPS settings will produce 352.8kHz output SPDIF signal. The only inputs of HE-7 Singularity that accept 352.8kHz are USB and I2S....

Thanks! Thats's exactly what I am looking for. I am just not sure if the HDMI I2S output of this device is compatible with the Audio-GD HDMI IS2.
No, I have LKS-004 and it I2S configuration is different than AudioGD.

You can try a Singxer SU-1 ?

Anyways, what I learned is that true Direct I2S is limited at 192Khz. There is only one type of chip that allow Direct I2S, and that is C-Media. Anything higher than 192Khz is not Direct I2S. It will have to be Digital-Digital-Conversions (DDC), for example the one linked above (LKS), and or Singxer SU-1

Thanks! I would like to but the Singxer SU-1 is limited to 192kHz via SPDIF, see the Singxer web: [the I2S out and WCLK out support all sampling rate, S/PDIF and AES/EBU highest support 192 KHZ]

I need an SPDIF (RCA or BNC) input capable of 352.8kHz.

I see, I thought as an DDC it should be higher. How about Matrix SPDIF2

PCM 16-32Bit /44.1kHz、48kHz、88.2kHz、96kHz、176.4kHz、192kHz、352.8kHz、384kHz、705.6kHz、768kHz
DSD64/128/256/(DoP) DSD64/128/256/512(Native)

It should be better than Singxer SU1. It uses accusillicon and those are good stuff, the only better clocks would be an expensive SC-cut OCXO

You may have to contact Matrix to make sure about the configuration that is compatible to LKS004! I have not looked into this, but whatever it is, as long as you can make your own custom cables, you can use whatever. I use Pinkfaun I2S configured for AudioGD but I made Cables for LKS004

This seems great but does it have a 352.8kHz SPDIF input (RCA or BNC) that can be converted to 352.8kHz I2S HDMI out?

I would like to try this chain: PC USB > Chord Hugo M Scaler (500k TAPS) > 352.8kHz out > ??? > 352.8kHz input of HE-7 Singularity

Nope, only usb-input

Thanks! I will try direct 176.4kHz out of M Scaler via SPDIF to HE-7 Singularity first. If I undrestand it correctly it is 250k TAPS - more than my Dave has :)

Yeah, it is kinda funny that while Chord is increasing Taps length, IFI is decreasing it, and so does many others. But we all know Chord has their own things, and so it is best to stick with them and their eco system

Audirvana allows doing more TAPS than this if that correspomds to the sample window length used to compute then upsampled output.

But i assume the output will be well clocked and that they use priopriatary algorithms so it could well worth the admission ticket, if well priced. However, they don’t provide jitter figures as far as i can tell.

One thing with the r7, when used in 8x os mode, i prefer it to audirvana doing the same upsampling. So it does an excellent job imo.
