Audeze Penrose X and Penrose

I need a piece of advise.
For the past year I have been using Ifi Zen DAC v2 with Audiotechnica ATH-990z + Brainwavz Pads for my gaming audio. For the past 6 months I play exclusively Red Dead Redemtption 2 on a PC (I don't own console)
Since I want to "cut the cord", after watching some reviews, I bought ArctisNova 7X. Unfortunately the sound experience was not what I was hoped for. I returned them for these 3 reasons (least to most, based on RDR2):
1. The just sound small in comparison to ATH-990z
2. The dialogs in the cut scenes are lifeless
3. There are simply no audible layers of sound, it is just one big blop of sound. On a scene with dialog, horse riding (remember, I compare them in RDR2) and background music, the ATH-990z renders everything where it is supposed to be - the dialog is front and most clear, hoofs are sounding in the front, but still somehow "below" the dialog and the background music is where it is supposed to be - in the background. The Artics sound flat and I cannot capture this separations on the sound stage.

So, after returning them, I was left with the only, presumably better, options - Audeze Penrose X.
Now, my main question - based on this little story above, will I get what I want with Penrose?
And maybe a secondary one - will they break? :D

Penrose will 100% sound better than the Steelseries. I’ve used the Arctis 7X and 7P - they’re decent headsets for what they are (super stable connection is a major plus), but the Penrose just sounds way better. Not sure how it’ll compare to your other set-up but the Penrose’ depth, clarity, separation, and power isn’t matched in the gaming market right now by any other wireless sets.

And yes…it may break or crack. I’ve had a couple crack on me now in the same spot (what seems to be a weak spot where the cups connect to the headband).

Who knows, luck of the draw if they break by the sounds of it.

I can’t speak for the Vzr but that’s wired so it’s a poor comparison. But the Penrose works very well with overwatch :)

If I may ask, to which other regular cans you'd compare Penrose in terms of spaciousness?

Penrose is fine, but unless you really need to go wireless, I’d stick with wired headphones. I use Penrose while playing multiplayer games on PS5, but I use Verite C when I’m on PC.

@Audeze - Would you be able to do a footsteps profile for Modern Warfare 2 , 2022 that just released please, footsteps seem a bit thicker than previous.
It's a big game and would help a lot of us out; i know you did one back in Jan of 2021 but things have changed since then and this is going to be one of the biggest games of the next few years.

Thank You

If you want decent soundstage for gaming I would go with Philips shp 9500,but if you like more Bass go for the philps Fidelio X2HR's

In my gaming days (competitive FPS mainly) I had HD800 for games and it was awesome, but now I'm wondering whether the monstrous soundstage these Senns are known for can be had for less :)

What is the difference between Brainwavz Oval and stock pads in terms of ear comfort? Not head pressure or sound, but ear comfort - like do they feel larger or smaller? Do they feel spacious than stock?
Also, which is the better mounting method - directly on the earcup, without the plastic adapter or like Techne, mounted on the adapter with it being on the inside and cuts for the clips?
