Audeze Mobius review / impressions

Finally got my Mobius today, it's been a long 6 month or so wait for these, but they are finally here.

Initial impressions - they sound great. Tried them via LDAC bluetooth via my Pixel 2 and they sound pretty good with music. I noticed some people say the headphones weren't loud enough, but they seemed plenty loud to me (I couldn't have them at max volume). Tried with and without 3D for music with LDAC, I definitely prefer hi res mode with 3D off for music. Turning the 3D on adds an interesting effect but it sounds a bit hollow (for lack of a better word). The sound is much more full bodied with 3D off. I've only tried them with the "default" eq setting, I'm not sure if I'll use the others as I have my own system wide EQ in place through windows.

I've been using them for the last couple of hours with World of Warcraft and they also sound very good and very detailed. The 3D mode is pretty cool for sure, definitely want this ON for gaming. Also tested the mic via discord and it seems quiet if I don't have the input/output for the mic at 100%. Once at 100% it sounds clear though. I noticed some people mentioning lag via the mic, haven't had this myself during my test usage today. Side tone isn't that noticeable, I can't hear myself very loudly when talking with the volume up. I do find the bass a little light while gaming, but not extremely light. I'd personally prefer them to be just a little bit bassier overall.

Headphones are comfortable if not a little heavy, they feel sturdy and the quality is nice. The ear pads aren't my favorite and will definitely get warm if your house isn't the coolest. Though I don't love the ear pads, they aren't uncomfortable so they aren't bad either.

I don't notice any "hissing" at all, with audio playing or without audio playing, they sound silent to me.

Overall I'm really pleased with them so far

It would be good to have some sort of official response regarding the mic issues.

Yeah its a bit frustrating right now. Finally got my headphones and I wanna try them while doing some gaming but as I posted in the other thread: The mic is basically IN my mouth. Windows recording volume maxed. Discord sensitivity maxed. USB connection too - and the mic has to be basically touching my lips to register any sound as I speak. Any ideas?

EDIT: Forgot the Mobius has its own physical mic volume. Maxed that. Its audible now but still cutting out.

Regarding your Sensitivity slider, it is a threshold for voice detection, higher means less sensitive, lower is better. Try -87db. Having the threshold so high will explain voice cutting in and out. See below for a sample sensitivity to use. Also disable noise supp

ression and automatic gain control.
We will post detailed mic settings to clarify.

Do you hear it in analog or bluetooth ? Is this a windows beep or a Mobius sound ?

i hear it when connected to USB, i'm not sure if it's a mobius noise or not, i've never heard it before when using normal headphones with a dac / amp to game on PC. I tried turning off the mic, the usb charging, I'm not sure what else it could be.

It's a little disconcerting that Audeze has responded to every issue brought up here except for the microphone issues... Being that it's a gaming headset, the microphone is pretty important. Hopefully there's something that can be done about it.

windows system notifications are off, everything in destiny 2 and battlenet is off, I'm hearing the beeping less frequently but it's still happening.

Can you try with a different source ? The only beep sound that Mobius can make is when you try to increase the volume and keep on turnning the volume encoder. But it does not beep continuously.

It doesn't beep when listening to foobar, my ipad had the bluetooth on, but turning that off didn't stop the beeping, not sure if it could be from a neighbor's bluetooth device being on? It's four beeps in a row, two different pitches. It's not the volume or mic wheel noises, just tried that.

We are looking into the issue. We spoke to several people on and off the forum. We are still trying to figure out if this issue is limited to some users.
Both Audeze and Discord (the company) tested the mics and have not found any issue in the units we tested.
In speaking with some of the customer
1. A few people called us about mic not working, but had connected the mic to the 3.5 mm port (and not the microphone port).
2. Some people had the mute switch on.
3. A few people had software settings enabled that caused some of the issues (like cutting in/out). This was either because very high sensitivity for voice trigger was enabled or automatic gain control was enabled.
4. With some other we getting more information and trying to locate the issue.

So we have started writing a best practices note on how to use it with various apps. We will add more to this list.

What happens when you just use bluetooth from Ipad and no USB or analog.

Thank you for the response. I'm really glad to hear it's being looked into and looking forward to receiving my pair.

As an aside, if anyone out there has a mic that works perfectly please mention it, because all I have seen are reports of mic issues.
