I've seen a couple of mentions of the shorter cable - can anyone suggest a decent longer USB-C to USB-C cable that won't lead to any sound degradation or issues? Does it matter if I got USB 2.0 vs. USB 3.1?

USB 2 cables should work without any issues.I've seen a couple of mentions of the shorter cable - can anyone suggest a decent longer USB-C to USB-C cable that won't lead to any sound degradation or issues? Does it matter if I got USB 2.0 vs. USB 3.1?

Well this is odd. When I tested the microphone the other day and compared it against my Sennheiser gaming headset, the Mobius microphone sounded just as loud as the mic on the other headset. Today, I tried using it again, and now I'm running into the same problem others have reported, where the mic is super quiet, to the point of being unusable. I haven't changed anything since then, so I don't know why it's working so much worse for me today than it did before. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the distance from the mic to my mouth, because I had it far enough from my mouth to avoid popping and breath noises when I tried it the other day, but now even if I'm practically eating the mic, it's still way too quiet, and if I move it any farther than that, my voice gets blocked out by the noise attenuation and becomes inaudible.
So yeah, definitely some weirdness going on with the Mobius microphone, and it seems like it may be an intermittent issue, or something that only crops up under certain unknown conditions.

This might sound strange but the tuning of the Mobius on music EQ reminds me a bit of the Elac UB5s. Warm, mid-forward, but with enough treble extension to grab most of the details. The Mobius digs deeper into the sub-bass than the bookshelf speakers, and the mid emphasis probably doesn't match, but that overall shape is roughly the same.

Mine does not. I have started a help ticket to see what they say.
I'm using USB-C, generally using discord for voip.
When I turn the headset on it defaults to 44% (I've been turning them off at night). I need to have it at 100% for anyone to even hear me (windows setting at 100%, discord setting at 100%). I get terrible sidetone with the regular mic. I plugged in my modmic 5 and the sidetone actually seems to have gone away. For the time being this is what I will do, but I was honestly planning on reselling the modmic once I got this.
Also, it seems like the headphone is cycling the battery even when it is always plugged into USB-C? That seems like an oversight and will cause undue wear on the battery.

I keep hearing my own voice through the headset. Please tell me there's a way to turn off side tone
Additionally I agree with everyone else, the mic is pretty bad. If it's not right up against my mouth, my voice cuts out or people can't hear me - but then they pick up all of my breathing.

We have tested the microphone and also had Discord test and certify them last week. It seems to work fairly well in our tests. We are looking into the issues people have reported to see if this is caused by a specific set of circumstances or settings and get to the bottom of it. Thanks for your patience.

@Audeze Another issue with Windows 7. Sometimes, when switching to 2-ch or 2-ch hi-res i will lose my mouse. The playback device will switch off of mobius. I have to either restart or disable and re-enable my mouse drivers to get mouse back.

Is it me or the background noise is still noticeable?
I got my headphones a couple days ago and tested it for the first time yesterday. There is clearly a pronounced 'hiss' noise, particularly noticable in 3D mode. @Audeze, is this normal or is there a chance I have a unit which wasn't fixed or could require warranty? I don't mind if it does, but I'm not sure what's to be expected because I read many of the reviews post-fix and some people were saying there was literally no hiss while my is quite pronounced and can even be heard while listening to music/content.

My bad. Wish this stuff was in the printed manual. You know, I wonder if a FAQ or something should be put on the OP?

Hey sov73811... thanks for the assist yesterday with the USB to PS4 connection...
you actually answered it correctly only because Audeze themselves have put out bad info...
on their own FAQ page " Will Mobius work with my Xbox/Playstation/Switch?Mobius will work with Xbox/PS4/Switch using only the analog cable (or Bluetooth if applicable). USB audio will not work with these devices. "
We both now know this is not correct and the correct answer is here... https://audeze.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003807452-Connection-to-Gaming-Consoles

- To connect to Sony PS4 using USB connector, simply connect the USB A to C cable between the PS4 and Mobius. Then, select 2 Channel mode within your Mobius with a long press of the Microphone Encoder (microphone volume wheel). You might have to unplug and reconnect the USB cable for your PS4 to recognize Mobius.

I've managed to get the mic to work pretty well via USB. I will start by saying that making adjustments in Windows 10 via "Microphone Properties" had no impact in my testing. Like some people have mentioned, the biggest improvement comes from making sure the mic is as close to your mouth as comfortably possible. I have the Mobius set with a gain of 84% (using the mic volume control wheel). This did result in the mic spiking/clipping from breathing and sibilant pronunciations, but adding a foam windscreen over the mic fixed that for me. I too initially thought the mic quality was pretty horrendous, until I realized the software I was using to capture my voice was compressing the audio quality severely. Recording audio with the built in Windows 10 voice recorder resulted in a much better representation of my voice.Does anyone's mic currently work well on PC?
I will also say that there seems to be a difference with the level of noise suppression/attenuation across the different connection methods. When I plug the Mobius into a Dualshock 4 controller, I find that I can have the mic much farther from my mouth and it still sounds great.

FWIW, USB headsets being low volume on PS4 is a common issue. I know Steelseries had a firmware update to solve it with the Arctis 7s (wireless, but they use a USB dongle), but general googling around shows it comes up a lot.
