Audeze MM-100

I think it's silly for people to be this upset about a product launch that has been getting delayed with updates from the company.

But I think it's even more silly and ridiculous for Audeze to require a $40 deposit to "hold your place in queue," of a pre-order.

That $40 has been accuring interest for Audeze these past few months. $40 may not be much for some people, but with hundreds or even thousands of $40 deposits, it adds up to a lot of free money for Audeze.

Audeze should have immediately refunded people their money once they found out the MM-100 wasn't going to be ready by their original estimated release date. I hope they learn from this and never require people to put a deposit down for preorders again. What a shisshow.

Upset is not half as bad as indifferent. Indifferent comes after upset.

On a lighter note: internet makes complaining easy 🤣

My concern is more about build quality and driver matching, etc... Delays are temporary. Though delays due to QC issues tend to linger. I've gotten out of the habit of pre-ordering most things for this reason, despite having pretty high hopes for the MM-100.
Exactly. I may wait until a second production run of these cans, as I worry about quality control due to manufacturing haste or pressure to release a product that was promised to ship long before it actually was placed into sealed cardboard boxes.

Yep. This is the headphone company equivalent of an NFL season win totals futures bet with online sportsbooks.

Place a futures bet in August on win totals, and that money stays with DraftKings or FanDuel until early January, accumulating interest.

I don't think the number of pre-orders is enough for interest to be a thing, seriously -- but in any case, I thought Audeze had already made it clear refunds are available for people who wish to cancel their pre-order.

I don't ever buy anything pre-order like this that I need at a specific time so the delays mean nothing to me but a little bit of delayed gratification. 😅

I'll be happy when they arrive. At least this will be faster than the Heavys which I backed on Kickstarter maybe two years ago and finally got a shipment notification today. :)

Well, I haven't paid in full for my MM-100 -- I just paid like $39.95 and the rest won't be charged until it ships. :)

They have resources and time to put out limited edition Maxwells but still no MM-100.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, and I'm not defending Audeze, but this just isn't how it works at all when a company makes more than one thing. It's not a zero sum game. Maybe those parts arrived from the OEM first, maybe they were ordered a year ago before the MM-100 was even announced. The components of those two headphones probably aren't even made in the same country. If there are supply chain issues, there's no amount of money that Audeze could pay to expedite the process. Sometimes stuff is just sitting on a cargo ship somewhere.

Making physical objects is a complicated process requiring a lot of systems to play nicely together. Putting a different shell on the Maxwell has nothing to do with manufacturing a brand new headphone that shared minimal parts with it. (Headband aside in this case obviously)

Or maybe Audeze just has back luck since everyone else seems to get their products out shortly after announcing, save Kickstarter things.
