Audeze LCD-X

LC bright? No way.  It's actually closer sounding to a tube amp compared to a lot of other SS amps out there.

Having said that, I would strongly urge you to try a Jot balanced for the LCD-X.  I really like it for darker headphones as it reins them in with total submission.  The punch and authority it can command from headphones can take your breath away sometimes.  Notables are HD650 and M1060 for me but I did briefly hear an LCD-X on it as well.

Hmmm. Define "reins them in"? I'm not sure I want to rein in the X, haha. More... help it come to life.

I mean complete control over the drivers, but bring them to life is a perfect description.  You know you can buy direct from Schiit and try it out for 15 days minus 5% restocking fee, a small price to pay to try it with your own gear and music.

Ah I gotcha. whenever I hear "rein in" my first thought is that it'll crank down the bass and spike the treble to sound more "neutral" and "detailed."

Can't go wrong with Audio-GD either. Loving this NFB-10, which I bought from @cskippy by the way. Their comparable (price-wise) amp to the Jot would be NFB-1.

I've never heard the amplifier in question but in my experience the vacum tube + MOSFET  do not fit well with X.
I do not like the sound of this combination with LCD-X because generally  tend to warm, which LCD-X certainly does not need.
A solid state amplifier is best matched for low frequency control and better definition on the highs.
Offset the sound of X

Which is kinda funny because I know for a while the Lyr/LCD-2 combo was the de facto standard if you asked around.

I made an DIY amplifier with ECC82 + IRF610/530 but I don't like with LCD-X because the sound is too soft.
Even changing tubes we are not there.

With la LCD-X I prefer the precision and the control.

Which is why I mention a good synergy with excellent solid state amps such as Jot, Bryston, etc.

The Jot definitely has my attention, chiefly because the X did indeed come with a balanced cable. Gotta say the Deckard is my frontrunner if I'm going SS though.

I'll say that swapping cables has fixed my noise issue. I don't know if the cable itself was getting flimsy or it picked up interference more readily or what. $70 cable off Ebay and it seems to have fixed the issue.
