ok just got my LCD X and first impressions,

kinda laidback compared to HD650

< 1hr of listening ^

is there a way this "relaxed/dark sound" can be adjusted?

they also don't seem as articulate for some reason (burn in?)

def faster and more effortless than HD650 for sure tho

edit: Only Happy When It Rains - Garbage (sounds quite epic..)

Damn! I seem to keep following you. For me, Burnin was in order. Give it a bit of time. It should open up nicely.

I believe it was you who I told (in another thread) that it isn't much different from the MX4? If so you might be more of an Ether Flow or ZMF listener.

yes i think it was you

not sure how much of an upgrade Ether 2 would be from LCD X but i will give the X a couple hundred hours and see how it goes

perhaps Aeolus or Utopia is my thing but i'll have to try (hopefully)

I don't think there is much of an upgrade you'll hear in any headphone from the X, its more about an alternate sigs that you would prefer. I have the Ether Flow 1.1's and the are noticeably brighter and sonically lighter on its feet than the X. Might be up your alley

Hmm, perhaps something more pronounced I guess

Nvm, I’ll sell off the X if I still don’t like it

Sounds better today than last night tho!

Maybe give True-Fi a try, I believe they have a free trial.

It boosts the mids/treble nicely to me. Doesn’t hurt to try

The darkness doesn’t “bother” me as much now but from memory I did prefer how Aeon Flow sounded better

So is Ether 2 up my alley? Haha still biased toward Utopia..

If money is no object I say go for it but the EF1.1 might be a solid choice at a better pricepoint. At least there are a couple Ether 2's for sale here.

Norne Solvine hybrid silver/copper is working extremely well. TOTL IIRC is Silvergarde. Using Solvine with my X and 4z; just incredible performance. I was going to upgrade to Silvergarde but will save that for when I get balanced cables made someday of which I have no need for at this time. Trevor makes some really nice cables. Recommended. There may be some new developments he is up to, have not been on the site in quite some time.
