Well.. demo'ing these vs the X is the main reason I bought it, and now I'm selling the X... :p

So will you be posting some impressions soon?

Yes I can after I spend some more time w/ it.

I'm not too surprised there are few MX owners, the pricing is questionably. It's a no for me at MSRP but I got a solid deal on them so I went for it..

How do they compare to the LCD-X? Been eyeballing the MX for a while and I heard them at CanJam NYC but wondering if they’re worth all that extra $$$.

So hardly worth an extra $1500 then.

I think that MX4 is a sufficient improvement over X in terms of how easy it is to drive and such, to be worth the extra money.

Will look into 4Z, but X wasn't made to be especially easy to drive and such, the most proeminent feature of 4Z is that you can literally enjoy the LCD-4 mighty sound from a high-end portable, literally get everything your heart could wish for portably, and that is priceless, especially for someone like me who does use Audeze while on-the-go :)

IMO if gotten significantly below list price (which hasn't been hard, based on what I've seen), the MX4 is a definitely worth considering despite the extra cost. After having owned both, I liked it a ton more than the LCD-X, personally.

And -- at least according to the personal yardstick used in my own subjective universe -- almost even worth what I paid for them, which is saying a lot, ha ha.

The X is very easy to drive George!

Oh, I remember it being hooked to a full tube amp when I tested it, and it had a lot of stuff connected to it, so I imagined that it required those to some degree :)

I haven't tried the X from a portable, but even the darn tiny, and not very expensive Hiby R6 can drive LCD-MX4 amazingly well :)

best to audition it first along with others on the same price range
Only way to do that is to actually have them, and the only way to have them is to buy them.
