Just purchased a used pair of LCD-5's. I've personally never EQ'd a headphone and feel this'll be the one to change that. Thinking about purchasing the Master Silver from Lavricables and going AECO XLR to get the most juice from my Burson amp. Then again if this gets EQ'd, it might be pointless to do so. Thoughts?
Congrats! Interested in what you find.

Honestly, I struggled to find significant differences between all my previous amps in that price bracket. Not enough to substitute a 2-4 bass shelf or softening of mid forwardness. So, a cable less so but not against the idea.

Resolve just posted his V3 settings after getting the LCD5 back.

Since last posting, I found the feeling i've been experiencing more is called frisson. Didn't know there was a name for it. I've been chasing a frisson high lately and discovering more music where I feel it. It's not experienced by everyone, but I believe there's a correlation between tone and music synergies at play here, not just the music alone as I found with different eq settings.

Resolve was on stream today making comments on LCD5 again.

Just listened to Talking Heads CD. LCD5 looks like the best choice to me when it comes to rock of 20th century. It’s not the most technically impressive headphone in the world, but the atmosphere, mood and energy - just perfect. Felt like I was at the concert.
I’m in agreement. LCD5 does not come off as technical as TC, Susvara etc but it’s mid forward presentation brings you closer to the band. Feels like I’m in front row or on stage with band. Also it depicts drums amazingly well.

Just getting around to trying Resolve v3 this morning. It’s quite nice, but my first thought is Mitch’s convolution is just more refined overall.

Any new folks running pure silver cables now?

At the very least, every PEQ I try for the LCD-5 accomplishes one thing. It makes me appreciate the magic of Mitch's convolution even more. A few hours with Resolve v3 and Stock Mitch Convolution sounds even better than I remember. There is something about an FIR convolution that PEQ just can't come close to replicating. Whether it is the 32K "bands" in an FIR filter, the frequency / phase response correction, or Mitch's years of industry experience behind the mixing board (or a combination of all 3). His convolution brings out the absolute best in the LCD-5. You can spend $200 on a boutique cable that won't have anywhere near the impact on SQ, you can chase PEQ settings to try and get a close approximation of what the LCD-5 is capable of, or you can drop the $200 on Mitch's convolution and have an EQ that has 1000x the resolution any PEQ can offer...along with some magic voodoo that is happening that I can't even begin to put into words.

Fixing to. Just ordered Grand Silver XLR from Lavricables.
Let me know how you like it. That's the one I plan to get as well.

I have used only silver cables for my Audeze headphones except my first LCD-2f. For that I used a Norne Draug V2. For my LCD-X, 4, and 5 I have used at various times a Norne Silvergarde S, a ZMF Verite Silver and a DHC Prion4. I firmly believe all Audeze benefit from a silver cable.

I couldn't have put it any better. It is magic, voodoo or sorcery, yes. I would have to echo this, but maybe tone down the 1000x a bit. LOL. It's important to temper expectations.... as I shun at putting these on again losing hours listening to stuff I normally wouldn't listen to.

It’s a direct quote from Mitch Barnett:

“FIR filters typically have “32,768 bands” of graphical eq or greater. That is 1000 times greater frequency resolution than a 31-band graphic equalizer. This ensures that the frequency resolution is high enough to ultimately smooth the frequency response with a high degree of accuracy and precision.”

I like to stear my own EQ

hmmm so he has his own target that he is aiming for? Not the Harman?
