No grains! Just woodwinds, and lots of air :)

These aren't woodwinds, they're brass . Also that first gif brings me an unfathomable sum of pain and discomfort as someone who also plays a brass instrument (albeit very casually).

These were just for laffs, and not pain and discomfort, so they're gone. No more pain, I hope. :)

Haha aww you didn't need to do that, I meant what I said above comically. You're too kind, bless you .

I tried the Utopia from TT2/MScaler combo. Sure the detail retrieval is exceptional but the timbre and bass extension/fullness is not quite there IMO. Take it with a grain of salt as I personally prefer planar bass to conventional dynamic driver bass.

I would take the LCD4, Empyrean, Susvara, D8000 any day versus the Utopia. But this can be considered personal taste.
It does not come down to taste but amplification, the Utopias bass strongly depends on tubes in this regard due to its imedance curve.

I don't think that tubes have anything to do with it. I found the D8000 Pro and other headphones to be more resolving than the Utopias, at least on the systems I've had here. With the LCD-5, it's no contest.

I'm working on an LCD-5 vs. Susvara video, in which I'll be sure to include some classical. But at least with other complex music, like I said in my review, the total lack of any congestion entirely in complex passages, at least that I could hear, is wonderful.

Not in regard to detail in the bass, but bass quantity itself.

It is very easy to mistake clarity and treble presence for time resolution and transparency. Unfortunately transparency and resolution are hard to measure, though one may be able to get some idea from impulse response measurements. Resolution and transparency are primarily depended on inertia of the driver. The lower the inertia of a the driver would help it to accelerate and decelerate faster and react faster to the smallest variations in the music signal and has to move in near unison to the music signal. Drivers with more mass have more inertia and cannot quite keep up with the smallest detail or changes in the music signal. This is simple physics, no amount of good amplification can fix a driver with higher inertia or mass. Typical cone drivers have mass that is orders of magnitude higher than a planar driver and more so with the nanoscale driver we use. No amount of exotic material used in a cone driver can make them light enough to match.

A similar argument can be made for bass extension too, yes it is easy to increase the bass quantity of cone drivers with amplification or EQ but bass quality of a well controlled planar driver cannot be matched either.

Call Audeze, explain it to them, and see if they’ll give you the credit when you send the old phones in after listening to the LCD-5 You purchased.

That’s part of the offer as i understood it

That comment wasn't in relation to my situation. I have no 4. Just 5 on order. it was more directed to those concerned about giving up their 4's if they did trade.

At this rate, those doing trades may get theirs before us that went through a dealer on launch day. Still no word on mine.

I’ve known local dealers to get it but not anybody outside of California. It’d be good for Audeze to communicate conservative ETAs to dealers.

I know of a dealer in Southern California that should be getting stock next week!

Maybe there is a post that I am missing, but why not order direct from Audeze? I did, and have had mine for more than a week.
