would like to begin to understand how to use this. Please explain what needs to be done. i have so far downloaded APO and Peace. am I going in the right direction? dont know what to do now....My preset is ready
Preamp -9db
The starting point was Harman target by Oratory.
I added 2 dB at 150hz (Q3) to add even more punch.
That also worked very well.
Dan Clark came up with the idea.
I also lowered the treble, as well as at 1,5 & 2,1 khz, because the LCD-5 still, in places, sounded too "sharp" for me.
From 10khz, i raised it by 1.5 db to get a more airy sound.
The Audeze responded superbly to this as well.
This tonality created a sound that I would describe as warm but not dark,
with strong bass (good slam, good punch), and as "airy",
with unobtrusive (but not too restrained) mids.

Link to AutoEQ GitHub Repo . Read through the instructions on this repositiory and it'll get you squared away.would like to begin to understand how to use this. It’s amazing how good the LCD-4’s still sound! In actuality, the LCD-4’s and LCD-5’s are very complementary headphones. One is extremely musical and engaging, LCD-4, the other is highly resolving, transparent, more true to source, LCD-5.Jeeez ...
LCD-4 Signature rocks!

I still can't believe it.
This "LCD-4 like" preset, seems to work much better on the LCD-5, than Harman target.
I've been listening to the "LCD-4" preset for about 5 hours now,It’s amazing how good the LCD-4’s still sound! In actuality, the LCD-4’s and LCD-5’s are very complementary headphones. The Harman target is not for everyone, especially after about 3khz. There is a new-ish tool by "Rosha" that allows you to create overlays of FR plots, and use a mock-EQ to see what EQ changes may do to the FR:I've been listening to the "LCD-4" preset for about 5 hours now,
and I'm "positively confused".
With these settings, the LCD-5 finally sounds the way it should.
I'm just saying that now.
I don't know how to explain it, but somehow the driver doesn't seem to harmonize so well with Harman.
In my opinion, the tonality that the LCD-4 has out-of-the-box is much more coherent.
I can only advise every LCD-5 owner,
to try out this setting.
Of course with a certain brain-burn-in phase.
There was one thing that bothered me the whole time about the LCD-5,
and that was an over-presence in the upper mids - lower treble (black circle)
a certain tendency to sharpness ,
that I couldn't quite get a grip on.
Red: LCD-5
Blue: LCD-4
But with the said settings, this has completely disappeared!
This is what the LCD-5 sounds like
"high-resolution analog"!
Yes, this strange description just popped into my head.
Also, I could not find the .CSV FR file for the LCD-5, so if someone wanted to provide a link / pastebin of the data that would be appreciated. The Harman target is not for everyone, especially after about 3khz. You can upload CSV files from FR plots. This could be a useful tool to use if you want to try to tune the LCD-5 (or any headphone) to another target.
