Cable rolling etc etc ... aside, adding an amp to the Hugo2 chain to colour the sound is working magnificently. I use the Audeze Empy silver plated balanced cable. It can be a little harsh in the treble and mid forward but the Class A/tube mode on the Cayin C9 rounds it out nicely. More than adequate driving ability from the Cayin C9. It probably gives a few desktop amps a run for their money. I'm setting up my chain for sheer listening pleasure, not technical ability. Very little to complain out with this transportable (battery operated) setup.
So I decided to pull the trigger.
Technically these are amazing cans.
Already wrote an email to Audeze and asked for new headband (my model has lower serial number than 17xx)
Clamp force on old headband is too much - but after couple of days I think that it loosen a bit and now it's not THAT bad, but still too much for long listening sessions.

I waited about a week. When i requested my new headband, audeze told me they were out of stock but will receive more units soon, however, within a 2 days, they shipped me a new one but the shipping itself took 7 days (holiday week).

I contacted Audeze in early January and was told it was 'ordered' for me. I asked what the status was yesterday and they said there was a delay in delivery of parts and the can't tell me where I am on the wait list. All new LCD-5 have the new headband so I assume they are using these for production prior to sending them out to existing customers. I'm sure I will get one at some point.
Where are you getting the superior upscaling from usb bit? That is not accurate. The same upscaling is used for both usb and spdif, but usb offers higher input sample rates, beyond 192k, which is mostly useless because 99.9% oh high-res music is below that.

The Hugo M Scaler manual says that it can upscale USB to 705.6 kHz or 768 kHz (depending on source sample rate), but only up to 176.4 kHz/192 kHz via optical.

You're confusing inputs and outputs. You wouldn't use optical out of MScaler unless you are using a non-chord DAC. You would use dual BNC out to a Chord DAC and get full upscaling from the optical input, all the way to 705/768k.

This is probably a stupid question but is there an instruction manual or video showing how to change the headbands over? Or do you simply DIY and unscrew the top ; and pull it out.
