^^ This makes me happy, exactly what we had in mind. LCD-5 will scale with your source but still gives you flexibility to plug them into what you have and get 90% there.I received my headphones today, I tried them with my Fiio M15 and they sounded good to me, in a bit perfect and with EQ.
took them to my work laptop and set up peace with red settings, and some changes I made to make them better for my listening. I plug them into my HIP-Dac V2 and they sounded great. lol
Now, I will go to my Focal, Arche, and see how they sound there. Tomorrow I will try them with my WA7 3rd Gen.

Crazy, but LCD-5 and Stellia sound really good out of the Hip-DAC V2, so for when I'm traveling, I don't have to limit myself. lol So if you are a bass head, the Bass mode of the HIP-Dac V2 also helps with this.^^ This makes me happy, exactly what we had in mind. Someone was asking about trance, they sound good with EDM and House Trance. Bass is there impactful, and detailed, of course, you have to EQ a bit.
Mongol Metal also sounds really good. I will check some Opera tonight.

So far, I don't feel the need for any burning, maybe it's cause I have been listening to the AUDEZE. LCD-XC 2021?
Dang, I sort of did not want to hear that, lol. I knew it was going to goodNice! It does indeed. I have tried the Moon Audio silver in the past, and it was good, but I found it too bright. The AXIOS Hybrid seems to strike a nice combination between detail and warmth, and LCD-5 seems to love it.![]()

Quick update.
So I played a couple of games with these headphones, WOW with my buddies, and some call of duty, very nice for that also.
Now I have been listening with my Focal Arche and man, do they sound good, they do sound better with arche,
Listen to a few albums by Sarh Brightman
Andrea Bocelli
Sarah Mclachlan
I can feel the music; the base has a low rumble on some of these songs. Not overwhelming, but very lovely and detailed; also, the vocals from both Sarah's are very clear and precise.
When I listened to Time to say goodbye with Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli, the sound was very detailed and joyful, to the point that I closed my eyes and got lost in the song. I heard every word she was saying in Italian very clear; Bocelli also sounded terrific with the orchestra in the back, making them sound like Angels.
Now for the EDM and Trance music; Oh yea, I'm happy with them too. The base is not as crazy as my TH900, but it's there in plenty of volume, detail, and presence. To the point, I can feel the rumble on my head, lol.
Now when I switch to Guitars, Rodrigo y Gabriela, the song, Hanuman, the attack on the guitars was terrific, and they sound evidence that the headphones can deliver a fantastic reproduction of the music.
You can hear every pluck of the strings of the guitars. my head was bouncing around lol
Now piano, I listen to Yanni Live at the Acropolis and it sounded like i was there seating right infront of the concert.
Yes, the Main Amp drives the LCD-5 way better than M15 or Hip-Dac2, but If i you want to go outside on my porch and listen some music while enjoying the sun, I can with my M15. Love these cans.
Now you can say they are expensive, but i can tell you I'm very happy i spend the money and got them, and not wonder what could had been. I will enjoy them a lot.
Tomorrow i will try them out of my WA7 3rd gen
all of the listen was done with the balance cable that ship with the headphones.

I’m not sure if you posted about the susvaras with ch700s being more clear sounding than the silver dragons, which I also happen to have, but I do hear the ch700s sounding more open and slightly louder even, whereas the silver dragons sound slightly attenuated and less dynamic. Unexpected but very cost effective upgrade indeed.Hey there, you may have read my post as I use CH700S on Susvara. Just out of courtesy, the termination is 2.5mm therefore only compatible with the older plug Susvara. Don’t want you to waste your time getting something that does not fit.
Cheers!
Also, did some listening today with my LCD5 and what a technical performer it is.
I do hear that as well... I don't notice it as much unless I compare directly with the susvaras in a/b testing. The 5s sound noticeably nasally and stressed out, albeit only a few dozen hrs are on them compared to my 2+ year old susvaras. I am curious how the LCD4s sound compared to susvaras. The new drivers and cable probably need to stretch and exercise little more.Does anyone have a tiny issue with the tonality of the LCD5?
I love everything about the sound but it sound a hair unnatural to me as if I am listening through an artificial layer and I'm actually thinking about returning them because of it. Does my chain have anything to do with it or does anyone agree? I am a singer/drummer so I am highly sensitive to tonality.
For instance, watching movies and shows through them sounds like I am listening through a stock tv speaker in a sense.
Topping d70s > Burson Soloist 3X
Coming from a few variants of HifiMan headphones which do not have this problem on my current chain.
I generally don't like equalizing but I do want to try. Can anyone please tell me where to find recommended parametric equalizing for the LCD-5?

Dang, I sort of did not want to hear that, lol. I knew it was going to good![]()
Lol! Yes. True parity in price. Nothing like an exact price match for headphone and cable.
Since many seem to be using @Resolve's EQ, I wanted to leave this here so you know what the EQ is doing and you can adjust the right ranges if you feel it is a bit too much. Personally I feel the treble is too forward (clearly heard when playing pink noise) and the bass sometimes gets a little overwhelming with this EQ for me, but I understand it is personal taste so use responsibly![]()
Thanks for that. I have been listening for the past few days and A/B ing the differences between the stock tuning/Resolve and Metal version and I will have to agree based on so much subjectivity. To the untrained ear, I would have been completely happy with the stock tuning out of the mediocre M15. If you had told me this was flat, I would be hard pressed to argue. Even flat it is good. Just a neutral flavor.
After seeing this, I started playing with the EQ and made some mods to his by bringing those peaks at 6700 and 7800 a db down but being a basshead I thought to myself.. I wonder if this could be more and noticed the roll off and no setting below 40hz. I added a 30hz boost and WOW! Incredible. The sub base just came alive and I can now feel it more as well as hear it. Resolve's was already great and if that was the end I would have been satisfied, but if you are a basshead like me, this is just delicious. Just goes to show how everyone has their own preference.
One of the many artists I use for sub bass is Bassbin Twins. I listen to mostly breaks/breakbeat/jungle and some dub. I don't like the term EDM. Too general, but I get it. Us old school ravers like categorizing in genres as they are not all the same, but I digress.
If you're into bass/sub bass and don't mind giving this a try, it gives some great rumble and digs down deep into the lower registers right around :54. This sounds incredible to me now. I can't imagine how much better this could be with more power or higher end equipment. Some day...
Eat Em Up EP by Bassbin Twins

What is the Main Amp? Curious to know what you hear differently between them and their respective price/power ranges.

Arche with the Volt setting it gives the lcd-5 more dept and detailed,co.pared to my M15
Bass adds A rumble that I can hear and feel, mids are more open, clear and dynamic, and treble has more space and detailed.
Have not heard them with my wa7 what will be latter tonight.
Better to do it in one place. Either disable headroom or adjust the gain (using the slider on the right). I like leaving the headroom on as I get the clipping indicator. But do remember that you loose quite a bit of headroom when applying large changes, I prefer to keep things below 6dB when it comes to the maximum change I am willing to apply, your amp will have to work a bit harder so you lose some dynamic range.

On the left side i agree with you

NOMAX
PS.but on the right....that was always what I missed in the past...imo a audiophile tonality should have enough brightness

Yes If the preference is for a bright signature and not neutral. A little change here and there to match preference is ok but better to avoid overdoing it or trying to match the Harman curve when subjective tonality differs from what the measurement indicates (as we do hear differently when it comes to headphones and high frequencies)PS.but on the right....that was always what I missed in the past...imo a audiophile tonality should have enough brightness![]()
Good question. I think someone tried it earlier in the thread.Anyone tried the LCD-5 with the Woo Audio WA7 3rd Gen?

I recently switched to the D90 in my bedroom rig and it has that sound signature.Does anyone have a tiny issue with the tonality of the LCD5?

To me, it's too dry and doesn't realistically render sound. Now, I'm keeping it because it's a dependable, small, and has the features I want, but from a sound perspective it's a downgrade compared to my old Light Harmonic DAC. My T+A DAC8DSD also has a more "meat on the bones" presentation, so I've got a few on hand to gather that feeling from.
In this case, it might just be 2x the same sound signature, compounding the LCD-5 to not sound "right".
