Audeze LCD-4

Does anyone have experience with the Lokius+ and the LCD4? I’m hoping the 20hz band can make it slam harder and the 16khz can address the upper treble peak I find annoying but not sure how effective the Lokius is. Does anyone have any impressions?

On the Lokius the 120Hz Band probably makes it slam harder.
On the Loki the 20Hz should do the trick.

Bass is separated in two Bands on the Lokius and the 20Hz is really only subbass

The Lokius has a small Q for each band, so expect all neighboring frequencies to be dragged along for the ride.

Yeah but the Q on the Lokius is much smaller than on the Loki.
To make it slam harder you need also the 120Hz knob on the Lokius.

Unless we have totally different Interpretations of slam

Everyday I’ve been loving my lcd-4s like a lover on an extended holiday knowing we can’t be together. Like the film “Before Sunrise”. I don’t know what the future holds but I will love you today, LCD-4.
I dont think i could ever not love my 4z. I could certainly also love me some LCD5 too LOL. Like our 3 dogs, love all those little rascals... Looking forward to first listen on LCD5, someday in the future. Oh well.

Headphone Efficiency is measured in dB/mW. For eg. LCD 4 efficiency is 97 dB/mW. Decibels is a logarithmic scale so 107dB is 10 times louder than 97dB. So, it would take 10 times the amount of power(10mW) to reach 107dB on the LCD 4.

Since the LCD 4 has an impedance of 200 Ohm, an amplifier driving the LCD 4 must be capable of providing 10mW at 200 Ohms to get to 107dB.
Now, the LCD 4Z has an impedance of 15 Ohms, so if it has the same efficiency, an amplifier driving it must be capable of providing 10mW at 15 Ohms to get to 107dB.

For most solid state amplifiers, it's much easier to provide 10mW at 15 Ohms than at 200 Ohms. That's why even though both headphones have same efficiency, LCD 4Z is easier to drive.
Excuse me, I have a question. In the Audeze website says that we need 500mW to drive lcd4.
My question is: In order to know if my amp will drive the headphone, that value of 500mW is output power of amp at 32ohms (standart or usual reported messure) or it means 500mW at 200ohms load?

From audeze support page:

For LCD-4s you need a more powerful amplifier than normal-- something in the range of at least 500mW at 200 Ohms, but more is better. Take a look at these for starters....

Use this

Put 200 in the first field and 97 in the second.

Edit: You need about 200mW at 200ohm to blow out your ears.

i am tempted to upgrade to lcd5, but i decided for now not to do that, as the creamy lcd4 would be missed, and besides 2500 usd for upgrading i assume will be the same price for a soon used lcd5 to pop up in the second hand thread

I too do not EQ. When I said “more bite” I meant it in the best of ways and it’s a subtle benefit. The new pads do no harm at all to all those positive attributes that we all love about the LCD-4s. The new pads only subtly enhance those attributes. Removing the old pads and installing the new ones was a 5 minute process. Watch the Audeze video. It’s that easy. When you tear of the old ones, this is what you’ll see but I’ve already applied the included half moon spacers. Their purpose is to reduce resonance. The glue ring is already attached to the new pads and has
hi, where did u buy the new 2021 pads from, and do the spacers not come with the pads. can you link the video on how to replace lcd4 pads

I bought them directly from Audeze online. $80 for a pair. Half moon spacer are included. These are now used for all of their lcd2, 2c, 3, 4 , 4z, x and xc headphones. I bought an extra set for my lcd-3f and they made a significant difference for the better for that headphone too.

It looks like the LCD-4 has had its magical run as they’re no longer available on the Audeze website. Long live the LCD4!
Temporarily out of parts, it will return
