R1 bass is richer and more everpresent - like having a subwoofer.  R2 is more dry/less rich but more detailed, and not so everpresent (like speaker system without sub).  At the moment I have no Idea which I will keep.  Another thing I noticed with the R2, as I bought it new, is that it needs burn in - OOTB it sounds a little grainy and artificially dry - this thankfully changes with about 50 hrs of burn in.

I just want to report my experiment with some LCD2 cable 
 
in order to have a massiv and slam Bass like the rev1. ,I've tried these three cables in the last few days
 
1 SAA endorphin  cosst around  1 K for 12 feet. This cable really make the rev2 sound so hi-end to my ear. It gives rev2 wide and deep sounstage,super transparent,great dymamic, but it's problem is,in the bright system with some records I've heard too much high,that make me unhappy with the songs.
The bass is gone (to my taste I'm a basshead),but for someone ,who doesn't like much bass,maybe this is the best cable for you.
The endorphin just make my rev2 sound similar to the O2 and Sr009 a bit

 
2 Zeus ohno continuous Cast Cu Hex 24 costs around 600-700 usd for 12 feet. This cable is the compromise ,between SAA endorphin weaknest and its strong points. When you switch between the two,you can easily tell the different, the bass mass comes back and hit harder,but the transparent, imaging capability and the soundstage all can not compared with the Endorphin. Anyway I am torn,between these two cables.  Rev2 with Zeus may not sound as good as rev2 with the endorphin in many audiophile and some bass light songs,but for bass heavy music ,I just like Zeus more than endorphin and the Zeus combination reminds me more to the LCD2 classic.
 
3 Mogami  mini quad microphone cable (DIY with neutrik plug) . This cable costs me just 40 usd (10 feet) and the reason ,why I have to try this,because I can't afford both Zeus and Endorphin. If I have enough money ,I will keep them both and almost 100% forget my old LCD2 classic. In the end I think ,I will keep just the Endorphin.
I just want some cable ,which gave a little more bass weight and make me feel like I listen to the LCD2 classic with a good treble of the rev2. (that what's the Zeus can do)
And it didn't disappoint me, it sounds a lot better than the stock cable, it can't be compared with the two cables above,but it can tame the painful treble,that I've heard when I use the endorphin and the bass is back with more weight. So I'm really satisfied with this cable.It may be not my permanent solution (I plan to buy the Zeus in the future),but with 40 bucks ,I am so happy with it.
 
 
 
p.s. a friend of mine made a cable for LCD rev2 from Kimber Hero (with furutech plug). He said ,this combination sound very fine and he really like it (he is a experience head-fier so I trust him 100%.
 
p.s.2 I've lent   2 of my friends the SAA endorphin and Zeus . They have Q-Cable and Norse Cable for the LCD2 (rev1). They just told me, that they like Zeus the most and the change of the sound is huge ,when they plug the Zeus to LCD2 compared to the Q-cable and Norse cable,which can give just a subtle improvement to the LCD2 . They like Zeus the most unlike me (I like endorphin the most)
 
p.s. 3 compared these two cable to apursound V3,which I have tried for a short time (three days).
Apursound V3 is very good cable compared to the price ( 270$ for 8 feet furutech plug nylon sleeve).
It gave overall good tonality ,add clarity and define a good imaging.Still it can't compete with the cables above,which costs 3-4 times.
 
p.s. 4  the reasonable buy for me maybe Apursound V3, Kimber hero DIY and Zeus,but Actually I think I will end up with the Endorphin (O2,SR009

  and Mogami cable  (though the mogami nowhere near the well known after market cable for LCD2)

cable can really help you.
I wrote here that I regreted selling my LCD2 classic,but the cable help the rev2 a lot,though the combination can not substitute the rev1 ,but it's ok.
And I used to restrict myself to have one cable for one headphones,but then I thought,you can have a lot of tubes ,why in the world ,you can't more than one cables for headphones.

I didn't find the R1's bass everpresent at all.  I found it to have the most chameleon like bass of any headphone I can remember, it really changes with the album.  Which is the only real sign of neutrality since we never know what any specific recording is supposed to sound like.

It was mentioned earlier on that as many as 300 hours were needed and this has indeed been my experience.  Even at 250 hrs, they were still disappointing. The sound stage was weird, almost as if there was an out of phase issue and bass was just plain wrong, positioned awkwardly in the sound stage.  Well, maybe that's an exaggeration but they were disappointing to me anyway.   
 
All that has now changed.  Everything has fallen into place and bass has deepened properly for the first time.  An after market cable has helped but they were starting to improve before the cable arrived.
 
It's possible that I didn't have the volume loud enough for some of the burn in or maybe they simply needed that long- either way, they have taken longer to sound good than for most people here..

I would pretty much agree. I do find they go the lowest of any phones I have and still maintain definition to the sound, which is surprising to me for some of the low notes rendered.

Got the Rev2 today. The new leather headband is pretty awful I have to say. It´s a timer of about an hour on it where it become a torture instrument. Nudge it a mililmetre and rub your hair and swear a bit and it´s good again for another hour .

I always noticed the foam headband and I never notice the leather headband.  Maybe for my head the clamping pressure causes less weight on the headband altogether.

I would agree clamping force is good.  Even with glasses on which sometimes squeeze and make my eyes feel really uncomfy(I have my good days, and my bad days).  But I would assume that the larger your head the more natural clamping force from the stretching of the head band.

I have never had a comfort problem with the foam. The leather looks interesting but comfort it what it is about and if I go with a r2, I will stick with the foam, since it is working fine for me.

definitely agree with this
