how and where do you install such resistors on a receiver? And then what kind of cable with headphone out do you connect to that?

I'll find you the link.  There are three resistors.  You bring in the connection from the speaker inputs, through the resistor network, then you can feed that to a TRS jack.  My vintage Yamaha CR-620 has the resistor networks for two jacks on a PCB behind the jacks.  So the power for them is off the output transistors.  Plenty of power for orthos this way.

Rob (Skylab) still has a DV 337 I think....?

No - the 337 is gone.  Once the Leben arrived, it was too far down the pecking order to get any use.  Had a lot of guts, but didn't like low impedance headphones much.

That's an extremely interesting project for me, thank you! Is there anybody who has finished it in a box?

I built a simple mod of this for Kabeer - he prefers the orthos hooked up directly to the speaker terminals.

Has anyone gleaned how long these will be in production?

These are not a limited production so I would go with as long as the company is in business which is dependant on many many factors but they are gearing up to continue producing more great things at this time, not shutting their doors.

Hopefully they will at least keep going a bit after demand falls off!

I never got the impression they were in this for the short haul.  I am under the impression they want to build their business for the long term.

Would the PS1000 be easier to drive than the LCD-2 without a dedicated headphone amp? Does the LCD-2 weigh more than the PS1000? Has anyone worn both? If so, which is the most comfortable?

Yes, the PS1000 is easier to drive,
yes, the LCD-2 weighs more,
and while I have worn both, comfort depends upon your personal taste, as does the sound.

The only drawback for me (I think) is the connector (ex: the weight and the comfort of the HF-2 does not bother as much as the cables..thick heavy cables near the earcups)...If only they could make another version with a smaller connector (hd650, HE-5, Qualia-type) or hardwired... this is the prime motive of my wait..
