Audeze LCD-1

Ok, since LCD-1 are not in production any longer I need to move on. and I need your help in a search for next step up in SQ but still light and preferably small headphones that I could easily travel with. In terms of sound signature I would like to retain LCD-1 softness and warmth but with more details and larger sound stage. If you ever listen to Reef the best of or Beth Hart War in my mind you know where LCD-1 are lacking. Any ideas?
Who said they weren't in production anymore? I believe we're anticipating more LCD-1s imminently.

Are you sure or this is only your assumption? I am little bit concern about it cause I've not seen them available anywhere on the market for +/- 6 months. I am fully aware about supply chain issues, chip shortage etc. but I don't see any other popular headphone set on the market with so long "sold out" status. Any response on that directly from Audeze sales Team would be appreciate. Maybe these guys are working on 2nd version with some design/performance change and this is the reason that they are so long unavailable.

Btw I would like to also report the same issue which Alec reported. It happend to 9 month old set. The plastic on inner side of headband near to hinges cracked. I think the reason of that is that after I adjust the headband to my head, the metal band inside the plastic cover end exactly in the place when cracks occure. I think it's made greatest stresses on exactly in this place which leads to plastic cracks. The plastic cover is to weak in this place.
I found at least several simillar issue on the internet but not so much which rather suggest that they are individual cases, but ..who knows?

I would also be curious about future-plans for the LCD-1 (and if they are still being produced).
The combination of open-back, foldable lightweight planar is a rare combination and serves a special purpose.
When i tested them at the local hifi, that unit was very used-down and the plastic creaked like crazy.
That kinda kept me from testing them any further.
But if there was something like an updated LCD-1, that would indeed be of interest.

I'm pretty sure he works for or is sponsored by Audeze, so he would know better than most, I would think.
Maybe yes, maybe not. But lets think, why the "bestseller" is out of stock for such long time. There is nothing special (construction-wise) or any rare components is using in LCD-1 which could justify this long lasting status when other products are on stock.

LCD1 available from the following dealers here in Australia
Addicted to Audio
Manny's
Store DJ

Also

Amazon UK...............and probably plenty more. Even though they sold out on the Audeze site, I struck a similar problem trying to buy an Asgard 3 from Schiit direct but it was simply a production issue. These planars are quite unique in both form and function. Their portability and sound make them stand apart from their siblings and having listened to the LCD2s in many ways I prefer the sound of the LCD1s for a lot of the music I listen to.

The LCD-1 are generally unavailable and this is the fact. All dealers which you listed has 1 pcs on stock so I suppose it could be 0 after verification.
Just because you are able to find few pcs worldwide doesn't mean that they are in production. What I found out is that in several US shops they have a status "in backorder" which would means that the issue is temporary but in other the status is "no longer available".

I would be happy still to have a direct answer on that from Audeze. Maybe I post them an email and see what those Guys answer.

Audeze have always answered any questions I have asked via their support page within a few days, so that would be a good way to try and find out.

As I said we're expecting LCD-1s imminently...

Yes we had supply issues with a certain part, but we were finally able to source the part.

Covid times have made sourcing some parts a nightmare.

We're hoping to have more made by the middle of this month. Not a firm ETA, but it's in the cards.

We just have to schedule the production. As we're a small team and production is building many LCDs... it's just up to scheduling once we have the parts (which we do).

Yeap. I am working as a supply chain specialist in production company so I am fully aware how it looks like.
I am wondering right now how my issue with cracked headband will end as our local distributor confirmed that there is nothing on stock. For sure I would like to avoid over month of waiting for new batch. But as of now I am still waiting for confirmation if the service accepted the complaint.
