Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones

I can't say I disagree with you on the case. They should have put cutouts on the back side of the foam for the ear hooks for those who use them. You should also be able to carry both cables in the case given how big if is. I've been able to do it by coiling up whichever cable I'm not using with supplied Velcro cable ties and put the one I'm not using at the bottom of the case a d sliding the foam piece with the isine's in them on top, but it isn't ideal. Fwiw, the antihelix stabilizers fit in the case without taking them off.

I'll agree that the case appears poorly designed. I'll definitely not be using it for daily transport between home/work. I really do wish that wasn't the case(heyyy dad-pun). If Audeze was going to design/ship a case, it should be more thoroughly thought out toward allowing the hooks/locks to stay in. They'd have to not-rest on the back of the earbuds but it's probably doable to achieve in a stable manner that still looks good/decent.

If I were to guess, they maybe valued the presentation of the buds when you use the case along with maybe protection of the technology/drivers above convenience for this. I bet the hooks/locks are easy & cheap to replace.

I guess I'll have to see if I'm willing to take the extra step to attach/detach my ear hooks/locks twice per day during the week. Signs point to "no."

That sounds like a match made in heaven.  I can live with the open back for some use.  I can get some other iems for when I need isolation.

Thank you very much you were very helpful

This is what I am doing right now. if I need complete isolation and I am in a safe but noisy environment (plane, noisy cafe etc), I would use my Shure SE215. Walking around or setting in a quiet  environment etc, I just use my iSine 10. This is no different than using my headphones for specific needs (open, closed, wireless)

I had asked if you are using the analogue cable via the mojo as well just in case you were one of many of the people on here who did not realize that the lightning cable has a built in dsp and drastically changes the sound for the better.)

Ah, gotcha. No, I didn't get the lighting cable, only the standard one. Im looking for somewhere I can order a pair of the 2-pin connecters so I can build a balanced cable (and maybe one to plug into the speaker outs on a receiver; so far I'm thinking that they really need a lot of power to be at their best).

As for the ramble: I think it's silly to think an company like Audeze, who's partnering with SureFire for it's earhooks + spends so much on it's own R&D, would use chinsey plastics in the earhooks. Of all the things to identify as lpotential engineering failure points, that's a pretty poor target.

/endrant

I think it's silly that you think that. I'm guessing you've never actually seen and held the actual product we're talking about? Tactilely, they FEEL identical to the plastic you find all across the dollar store that's been proven chintzy in the past. It's actually a logical, evidence-based conclusion to equate the two. So no, that is anything but silly, and you were wildly off-base there.

However, in my experience trying to riddle truths out of online forums where anybody can post any opinion at all, in a specialist forum like this one, it's a pretty safe assumption that a consensus opinion--if you can find one--is as good as a solid fact. So here we have several people saying "no, the earhooks are actually way more durable than they look" vs. zero people saying the opposite. It bears monitoring, but that's the beginning of a good consensus (in contrast, there's clearly no consensus about just how far ahead the 20s are, and that's unlikely to change).

I'm sorry to spotlight this one idea out of you post, which you're probably wishing you could take back.by now. On the whole, your post was interesting and enlightening. I had never heard of that company before.

Ok let's get back to point of this forum shall we. Question to all isine 10 and 20 owners do you feel as if your isine will be a iem you will keep and use for many years or is it just a trend that you are following because it's the next big thing in the audio community and will keep until the popularity drops and or get tired of it? Thanks

Kind of hard to answer. For me personally, if no other  big design change happens in the world of IEMs, I don't see the point of moving away from my iSine, and as long as I have the iSine, I don't see the point or allure of traditional IEMs regardless of price or newness. I was lusting after a Campfire andromeda for the longest time but now I couldn't care less. I mean the iSines have similar detail retrieval as my HD800 and a smaller, but equally unique soundstage. They also have two very nice tonalities(3.5mm and cipher). Why would I care about much else?

I can maybe see other manufacturers doing something similar if the iSines get popular enough, then I may need to look into other options. Sennheiser fitting a 20-30mm ring dynamic driver into an iem would be interesting.

Before buying my 20's I had been very content with my westone es5 customs for many years (eq'd, not the stock sound).  I had basically resigned to not getting anything else unless something really got my attention.  When i heard about the isines they were the first thing that had intrigued me in all those years, especially since i had owned lcd2's at the same time as my es5's for a period of time, and decided I was much more content with portable headphones than large cans even though i loved the lcd2's

Since the price was not rediculous, and they had the 30 day return policy, i decided i'd give the 20's a shot.  I had also realized that for me, having an open portable would be more ideal in most scenarios than my very isolating customs.

I also knew that I would very likely not want to give up using my clip zip unamped as my primary listening device, so I would either have to be content with the analogue cable sound, which is never the case for me with any headphones, or be able to eq them to essentially sound as good or better than my customs.    I figured that was a lot to ask for considering my customs were $1000 and I was very happy with them.

It took me a while to get the isines eq'd to my liking, and I almost returned them, but once i got them sounding good, I was very happy with them.  I am a bit unique to other listeners as I have worked with eq my whole life in various sound situations, and in my own way I feel I have a very good handle on "optimal" sound for headphones, so to me the "stock sound" of a headphone is not so much relevant.  It's all about how good I can get them to sound.  How close to my idea of what a perfect headphone should sound like can i make them.

Bottom line, i was amazed.  To me with my eq settings they sound really really good, and as far as I'm concerned I'm back to where i was with the customs, which means I'll be hanging on to these for a very long time unless something totally mind blowing, and relatively similar in price comes along.

I've had my 20's for a while now.  My customs have been collecting dust.  I will keep them, as there is always a place for isolation, and at this point they are outdated and have little resale value, but I have found that I had to completely re-eq them to get them to sound as good as the 20's, which has not been easy.

I'm not even sure where to start with EQ on the standard cable with these...   I am using Onkyo as the playback and it has a nice EQ...  just trying to figure out what settings to use...

any ideas...
