try the bauer with a higher db gain and it will become less mono while still giving a crossfeed effect. I have mine set at 12.5 db to 15db. If what you're showing is the naive software plugin, i'll pass

It basically doesn't do the crossfeed naturally IMO. try a left/right channel test track to check for naturalness of the crossfeed.

I still find it too mono

actually the naive plugin w/ the 3 settings set at the minimum sounds pretty good to me...it's a lot less fatiguing than w/o, that's for sure!

I've got a serie of 18 Motown CD's where you have the music on the left channel and the accapela track from the original mastertape on the right...and it's really unbearable w/o any crossfeeding

there's many more crossfeed plugins for foobar, I'll give them a shot tomorrow

huh?

turning the slider all the way to 15db makes the sound almost identical to the non-crossfed sound with the bauer hehehe anyway i'll try the naive software and others again.

Just tried the Naive software again. Don't know what version I got before but you are right! I'm loving this. It seems to keep all the brightness of the original sound intact while applying a good amount of crossfeed to the mix. The Bauer still dulls the sound a little even at the highest 15db setting compared to the naive plugin even though the effect is not as effective anymore. Going down to a nice effective setting around 12 db and below dulls the sound too much with the Bauer.... So now I'm switching back to this!!! Thanks Leeperry

Oh, just to clarify, what I was initially talking about was the Naive Crossfeed from the OP

But I also just tried the Bauer and currently, I seem to prefer that over the Naive with the setting at 15db.

I tried this too:

I haven't gone deep into the thread yet and I've tried the Dolby Headphone component and it sounds very interesting. I get how some would find it too "processed" since I feel a bit of that myself, but the music does "come alive" more for a few trade-offs.

I haven't completely made up my mind about the whole crossfeed DSP subject, though I'm more inclined to opine that my setup without all the plugins seems more enjoyable for now.

I plan on revisiting these a lot from time to time from this point onwards though, so I'm not removing them from my current foobar installation.

bauer is definitely nice especially if you want to smooth out the sharp edges of your cans. Senns might not like the bauer very much I have a hunch

Maybe you also have the old naive version. The one I got seems to be more subtle than the bauer. Ive been comparing the plugins like a paranoid fool since this morning and with classical music with my ad900s, the bauer at 13db, 700hz is my preference. while when i get the feeling that some rock gets too dull, i go back to the naive. I'm still confused as to which one I'm leaving on hehehe

weird that you think its more mono. IMO the bauer sounds more mono in its default setting at 4.5db

But of course at 15db on the slider, it doesn't sound congested (mono-ish) anymore. Just a little smoother in tonality than the naive plugin at default setting.

Myself, through all of my upgrades from a good mid-fi setup to the absolutely great sounding system I have now, I still use my Foobar/Dolby Headphone/VI-suite setup, described in post #38 of the above linked thread, for reasons that are also explained there. For the ones that find this just too much of a 'processed' sound, I can recommend the HDPHX VST plugin that is mentioned as well.

I'm compiling all your posts on that thread in one file for reading. Its pretty massive

I havent read the big thread yet but was wondering if anyone has any experience with tweaking the sliders on the naive crossfeed plugin. What exactly do the bottom 2 sliders change. I hear some subtle tonality changes but cant really pinpoint whether the tonality change is a side effect of something else those parameters change... Any comments?
