well every deal I have been trying to make on here has gone sour, I have found a buyer for one of my sale's and was looking into getting the a700's but then I though would it be worth it to save up more and buy the AD900's or it's closed counter part the A900's I'm looking for FULL rich mids, bass is 50/50 I don't need cannons but more then my K500's would be nice  and highs that arnt recessed. They are both AROUND the same price and was wondering if one is inherently better than the other or if its apples to oranges. Or if infact the A700's are what I'm looking for as I hear then can be modded to bring forwards the highs.

well so far it looks like the A700 is wining but I wish I  could test out the ad700 vs the A700, as 32ohm audio has the A700 and not the AD.

So according to this picture the A700 are rolled off in the highs and much less neutral, but some people say they sound VERY similar the only thing being the lack of airyness from being closed and more bass, with a drop in the highs...clearly, but that loss in the mid bass brings me doubt also the drop in the....around 7000Hrz range what would people suggest. OPEN V.S. NON OPEN MEANS NOTHING TO ME!!

Thanks that helped me a lot! I think I'm going to get the AD700's I really liked the A700's and if I don't prefer the AD700s to the A700's I can just ship them back* I will test them at 32 ohm audio when I go get my DAC* but so far the 700 VS the 900 series seems like the 900's are almost a repackage with few tweaks I would like to mod the AD700's starting with a paint job.

You might want to try out the AD700 first, because if you don't like them, you certainly wont like the AD900 as it is not much different at all.
It had a little better control in the bass, and the mids/highs seemed slightly less grainy.
But I had heaps of trouble finding any huge differences in a level matched A/B comparison.

So I'd give the AD700 a try first, but depending on the price difference, you could go for the AD900 if it isn't too much more.
Over here in Australia, the AD900's were about twice as much money($150>$330), not really worth it IMO.
I haven't heard any of the closed versions so I can't really help you there =P

i have had the ad700,ad900, a900, and k501. i still have the a900.

the ad900 is better than the ad700 in stage, bass, and clarity. its much more balanced. honestly it sound very much like a dt880 (which i had also)
however, i cant say its worth the huge price difference over an ad700. the k501 is so bass lite that the bass lite ad700 sounds bassy next to it.
the a900 pushes the low and high end, mids slightly recessed. i put corrino pads (from various technica models) on my a900 and its sounds very similar to my w1000.

the a900 is one of my all time faves

but is the A700 vs the A900 about the same as the AD700 VS the AD900 in the difference, I'm looking for bang for the buck, if the AD700 is about on par with the AD900 I would stick with the 700 if the A700 I tried and liked very much and will have to try again is about the same as the A900 I would stick with the 700's. I suppose what I'm asking would the AD900/A900 be worth the $130/100 price increase for the amount of change?

probably not. i got my a900 for a lucky ebay bid long ago. i would go for the a900 only if u love the a700 sound so much you want to extend the technica sound even for a high price

hmmmm alright, I'm going to order the AD700's from amazon swing by 32ohm and A/B them and see what I prefer as the AD700 and a700 price is only about a $20 difference.
