The Beats Studio are substantially better than the M50. The Beats have the same kind of sound as the M50s but are better in every aspect IMO. The bass is also more solid as opposed to a slightly rounded feel on the M50s. They come with noise cancellation if that is important to you, but needing to change batteries is a turn off. Beats also have a bit more clarity in the treble compared to the M50.
Regarding the ES7 - it's a totally different sounding headphone from the M50. Very bright compared to the M50 which is darker in tone. The resultant soundstage seems airier and wider compared to the M50, which is the M50's main weakness IMO. Bass is not as warm and luscious as the M50's but that is not the ES7's strength.

I had the opposite experience, i found the bass on the beats weaker compared to the M50 as if it was all mid bass, the beats didn't go as deep as the M50. I found the vocal range as well as the snares and high hats veiled on the beats more on the beats than the M50.
Well now, you must have magical ears being the only one in the world to ever hear it like that. During my side by side comparison i came to a different conclusion.
